On the Lancashire/Cumbria border, and tucked away in the Silverdale/Arnside AONB, this ground floor apartment offers homely, holiday accommodation. The property is situated in a bird watchers’ and nature lovers’ paradise, adjoining Gait Barrow Nature Reserve and just under a mile from RSPB Leighton Moss. The picturesque Silverdale Golf Course and local station are also close by. The pretty coastal villages of Silverdale, 1½ miles, and Arnside, 2½ miles, both offer shops, restaurants and pubs. The rich diversity of habitats in the immediate area offers many miles of varied walks. The stunning scenery of the Lake District lies to the north of Kendal, which is approximately 15 miles away. Other destinations within easy reach are Kirkby Lonsdale, Lancaster and Windermere. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

    Second time I have stayed here. Perfect spot for walking and getting to see my football club play and teams in the North West. The cottage is a bit dark in winter months but generally comfortable. Enjoyed my stay

    No internet or phone signal. Should be highlighted not good for someone staying on business.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; We value all the comments our guests make. However, we are disappointed in this client’s comments and would like to clarify the following: The guest commented that there was no internet or mobile phone signal. In fact, the internet is not listed as available in the property description and therefore should not be expected. There is a mobile signal present, but it is weak and patchy as might be expected in a rural setting especially when the walls are 18 inches thick. This guest awarded a low grade for ‘location’ – in fact the property adjoins a nature reserve and is situated in the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The location is regularly praised by guests for its beautiful countryside and countless scenic walks. The guest rated local amenities as grade 1. This is inaccurate and misleading: there are many local amenities such as a swimming pool at Holgates, Silverdale golf course, and several pubs and restaurants situated in the nearby scenic villages of Arnside and Silverdale as well as shops, supermarkets and pharmacists in Carnforth and Milnthorpe. All these are listed in the Welcome Information in the apartment. Finally, our property is marketed as a haven of peace and tranquillity, a place to get away from it all. The property description does not suggest business/office facilities and if these were essential for this guest during his stay perhaps, he should have checked their availability before booking.

    We stayed here in order to visit RSPB Leighton Moss and for that it was perfect. It was beautifully clean with good quality linens, however it only had large pans and no grater. One pan was in use collecting water presumably from a drip under the sink. When cooking for only 2 of you, smaller pans would make more sense. The fan in the kitchen didn't work and the fire extinguisher was out of date. Otherwise we had a comfortable stay and managed with what we had.

    Very clean apartment.There was no picture on the television,I found that the coaxial cable had been uncoupled and I found this under the night storeage heater after some considerable time.I telephoned a number given to me but there was no response.

    we had a lovely stay here and it ticked all of our boxes as we wanted somewhere with walks on the doorstep which we had in abundance, the cottage had everything you required apart from a network connection / and phone signal... :o( which was a little irritating for getting in touch with home, and maybe reviewing places etc ... but it was just a little niggle ... it was great ,nice and clean, and a little area outside to sit out ... and would definitely go again. sharon and shaun.

    This is a fantastic place to stay ,the wildlife is in abundance which for me as a wildlife photographer is up there with the best with the local RSPB on the doorstep. The only thing lacking at Challan Hall Mews is WiFi as in my line of work I need to download photos to my website for my customers to look at.
