Woodland Roost (ref WN72) is a detached hideaway located within a woodland garden and Cedar Rest (ref WN82) and Coastal Retreat (ref 28519) are delightful wings of the owners’ 16th-century hillside farmhouse. Ceilwart Cottage (ref WN73) is situated in a beautiful, terraced garden with patio, BBQ and patio furniture, and has strong green credentials with its solar panels for hot water, a ground source heat pump for the comfortable central heating and cosy sheep’s’ wool insulation, not forgetting the triple glazed windows and the UV filtered natural spring water. They all overlook the owners’ field, and are only a mile away from the town of Barmouth, with its choice of shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. A steep walk across the road takes you to the promenade and a beautiful sandy beach. Close by are all the amenities of the Snowdonia National Park, Harlech with its castle and golf course, Portmeirion, and steam trains run from Porthmadog. They are secluded but not isolated, with horse riding, fishing and mountain bike centres within an easy drive. Beach 1¼ miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants 1 mile.

We had a great time in this cottage, helped by the weather which started off iffy, but improved to wall-to-wall sunshine for the last 3/4 days. The cottage is in a superb location, overlooking the sea with brilliant views towards far mountains, and a great sunset every evening. 5 minutes walk down to the beach (but a slog back up as it's pretty steep!) and a few minutes drive to the facilities in Barmouth. You can also walk directly from the cottage onto a footpath which leads up onto the mountain behind. As noted by other reviewers, the property is a bit light on kitchen equipment (not much cutlery and no sharp knives) but otherwise the cottage is well equipped, beds and seating very comfy, and oh so quiet - just the noise of the babbling brook, or the waves below if it's a bit windy. The owner is very friendly and accommodating - would certainly go back

The cottage has a very good view of the coastline, but if your not fit and active the hill is super steep even from the parking port steps are very hard to negotiate. Unless you were willing to do a long drive to any major tourist attractions a couple of day would be the most time you could want to stay there for. This cottage in particular is not suitable for unfit or elderly.

The location was great. However the overall rating was let down by lack of info about location e.g. where to eat etc. Only a plethora out out date leaflets. No Wi-Fi, considering so places suggested on line booking and very poor mobile signal. Stated property came with towels. These were not full bath towels. We purchased bath towels on first day.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Sorry you were disappointed about the Wi-Fi we do not advertise that we offer it. Bath towels are provided just not full bath sheets, and like very many rural areas phone signal is intermittent.
