Situated on a quiet sheep farm enjoying stunning countryside views and a spectacular rural location, this renovated farmhouse lies at the heart of the Scottish Borders between Denholm and Hawick. The large double en-suite bedroom enjoys beautiful views from its large windows on two sides. The nearby towns of Hawick and Jedburgh offer a rich cultural and historical heritage, and Melrose, Kelso and Selkirk are also within easy reach. Golfers are well catered for with many excellent local courses at Hawick, Minto, Selkirk and Jedburgh. All of the courses welcome day visitors. Sporting parties are also welcome, with a wealth of shooting and fishing available on the Borders too. The Borders Railway runs from Tweedside near Galashiels to Edinburgh. The detached holiday property has many enjoyable walks to explore the surrounding countryside. There is peace to savour or much to do, whether you love scenery, culture, heritage or shopping in nearby Edinburgh. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

    This is a traditional farmhouse with a modern extension - the extension is imaginative and pleasing. There is plenty of space and the beds are exceedingly comfortable and clean. However when we arrived it was to discover that the house was not properly prepared: both curtain rails plus curtains in the living room were lying on the floor; the same was true of the clothes rail in the wardrobe in the main bedroom; there was no hot water; there were large dead spiders in various places including several in the bath; a toilet had obviously been used and not flushed; another toilet was constantly running water. We reported some of this by phone - we were especially concerned about the waste of water. We were told that a plumber would come to repair the toilet but by the time we left this had still not been done. We recognise that there are difficulties when the owners do not live near the property but surely there should be some local representative who makes sure that all is in order.

    Response on behalf of the owner; We apologise that the farmhouse was not at its usual warm level of welcome and that the standard of cleanliness on your arrival was sub-optimal. We pride ourselves in our high level of cleanliness and this has been praised in all previous reviews. The issues you raised have now been rectified. We have taken on board your comments regarding insects and hot water and have organised our housekeeper to do an inspection prior to the arrival of future guests to ensure everything is in order.
