Amazing! 2nd stay here although no pets allowed 2nd time round which did nearly put us off as we have therapy working dogs and they enjoy the break too. But we wanted to revisit so we left them behind and we still had a lovely time and enjoyed the stay even though my son did constantly ask where the dogs were (disabled child) we love castaways as its amazing and comfortable and the owner is a lovely guy too.

Lovely holiday cottage, well equipped/space, ideal for a large family. Very clean, beautiful outlook over the sea, just what you want in regards to local amenities, shop, post office, pubs & take aways. You would need a car to explore lots of other beautiful places here, would definitely stay here again.

Castaways is a lovely house in a beautiful area. The house was very clean and well laid out and has wonderful views from the upstairs living area. It is well equipped with everything you need including a tumble drier, WiFi and satellite tv. Kevin the owner is friendly and helpful. Fethard on Sea has a shop, chemist, post office and a variety of eating places. There are several beaches within walking distance of the house and there are lots of things to see and do on the Hook Peninsular as well as further away. We enjoyed a visit to Hook lighthouse, Tintern Abbey (Ireland) and the Kennedy Arboretum. We also took the small car ferry from Ballyhack to Passage East and visited Suir Railway, the Mahon waterfall and the Magic Road, this is easier to spot on the way down although we did have help from a friendly biker we met at the falls. He was very knowledgeable about the area and friendly as were all the people we met. Food everywhere we went was good with generous portions. We particularly liked the Templers Inn and the Hollow Fish Restaurant (slightly more expensive but well worth a visit - delicious fish and bread which they make themselves). We had a great week and would definitely return to Castaways.

Recommended for families with dogs but the dogs weren’t allowed upstairs, which is where the living room was. We spent our time sitting in the sun room on bamboo furniture. The garden however was awesome. They had nearly an acre to run round. Fethard-On-Sea is a lovely little place.

Location, location, lication!!!!!! Amazing and unbeatable location, 5 minutes walk to two of the best beaches we have ever been to, 15 minutes walk to a thriving village with great shop, cafes, chemist. Great base for lots of local walks and sights plus further afield. Just so quiet and peaceful too, a comfortable base, what more could you ask for? Our fifth visit and planning a sixth. Hook adventures now based in the village a great addition, offering kayaking, SUP and lots more, right on your door. Kevin the owner respects your privacy, but always available should you need him. New TV with Freesat downstairs and gate at the front definite improvement. Outside furniture instead of the picnic bench would be great, but that really is a minor quibble
