Although my score might look extreme, its because I had such a wonderful time, and the place was so much better than it looked - bigger for one, and so cosy for a winter stay. A great bath, lovely bed, underfloor heating and enough to cook up all I wanted. I went there to walk and write, and this was the perfect place to stay. I would happily go back again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carington Barns for the second time. Lovely cottage right in the heart of hope valley with amazing walks. Hosts are very welcoming and will do anything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Lovely to turn up with milk and cookies to make that all important cup of tea.

Pictures alone do not do this cottage justice. Amazing property. Owners really lovely and helpful. Fabulous location with walks from the door. Very clean and tidy with some really great touches including hand built furniture by owner. Comfy bed and underfloor heating. One of the best if not the best property we have ever rented. Would go back in a heartbeat. Loved it. We had a wonderful holiday and look forward to going back.

Just returned from week's break in this wonderful , comfortable cottage where the scenery is amazing . It had a contemporary feel which was to our taste. Fabulous walks straight from the door to Mam Tor and Kinder Scout , 30 min or so drive to Baslow , Bakewell , Curbar . Owners were very friendly and approachable . Make sure you take any food requirements with you as there are no useful shops in the local area ; plenty of fridge space . We would definitely return

Response on behalf of the Owner; Many thanks for your great review; we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. It might be useful for future guests if I offer a little more detail on shopping for food in this area. We do have local shops and suppliers including high-class food outlets such as two celebrated farm shops (Watsons and Chatsworth). We are lucky enough to have a milkman and a fresh fish and game dealer who calls here every Thursday at between 5pm - 6pm. Another alternative to bringing provisions with you is to arrange a delivery by one of the major supermarkets; they all deliver to us and usually offer one-hour time slots. Even if you arrive by train, it is usually possible for one of us to call at the shops for you whilst we are out and about to ensure you don't run out! If you prefer to eat out, we have a cafe run by a local family who do excellent fish and chips. On Friday and Saturday evening, a mobile pizza van offers oak-fired pizzas in the village. I should also mention our two excellent pubs, which welcome walkers with muddy boots!
