Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

A cosy cottage with a sea view, this property is just 250 yards from a sandy beach and within easy reach of many attractions.

Only a 250-yard walk from the beautiful sandy beach of Whitesand Bay, this charming little row of three delightful and comfortably furnished holiday cottages commands magnificent views over the bay and Sennen Cove. On a quiet lane leading only to the cliffs, they have been very tastefully converted from a spacious Victorian house and are stunningly set in several acres of shared natural grounds; home to a wonderful variety of wildlife which can easily be seen from the steep beach path and the cottages themselves.
The beach at Whitesand is magnificent; a splendid mile of sand which has been awarded Blue Flag status and is excellent for surfing (lifeguards operate throughout the summer, and there is also a ban on dogs from 1st May to 30th September. Dogs are permitted year round on nearby Gwenver Beach). Sennen Cove (½ mile) is a picturesque little fishing village looking out over the bay. It offers shops, pub, restaurants – even a lifeboat station – all within walking distance. There are some beautiful walks along the coast towards Cape Cornwall in one direction, and beyond Land’s End in the other.
The famous outdoor Minack Theatre is only 3 miles away and Penzance (7 miles) boasts a mainline station, shops, inns, swimming-pool, sailing and tennis. There is a golf course at St Just (4 miles) and facilities for squash and badminton are available locally. Picturesque St Ives (a renowned haunt of artists) is 15 miles away along the spectacular north coast.
The Carn Towan cottages are perfectly positioned for enjoying a Cornish holiday – and are cosily heated throughout, with double glazing, making them ideal for all-year-round breaks. Shops ½ mile.

A lovely romantic cottage for two set between Bishop Rock and Sevenstones. Entrance into fully fitted kitchen with breakfast area. Living/dining room with sea view. Cloakroom with toilet. First floor: Pretty double bedroom with sea view, en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

4th Visit we love this location and the views are exceptional. the cottage has everything you need but is a little tired now if it were not in the location it is the property would not receive such good reviews on balance it is lovely but it needs a new bed and despite recent work the shower is still a disappointment. if you can accept small inconsistencies and want to be in a beautiful location then there are few better. we will still return the plus outweigh the minus

The view from this cottage is simply stunning - not only from the living room but from the bedroom too (and even the bathroom if the door is open). One evening, from the living room, we watched the lifeboat going out and the cottage is perfectly positioned to see the sun setting too. It is a spacious cottage for two people and clean, cosy and very well and thoughtfully equipped. The costal path is only a few hundred feet away and there are various walking tracks from the door that we and our dog enjoyed.

When we approached the front door, we wondered what we had booked. The porch area didn't improve our opinion. The kitchen though a bit tired was very well equipped. Then we went into the lounge. Wow, the view, fantastic. The room was very comfortable and sitting outside, overlooking the sea, fantastic. The bedroom and bathroom were lovely, again with great view over the beach. The climb down to the beach and back was very steep, but you are very close to the beach. I believe the owner is going to replace the front but don't let first appearances put you off. It is a lovely place, we were able to take our dogs which is always a bonus, we would definately return.

Thoroughly enjoyed although, due to mobility problems, we did find it a bit tough due to it being very hilly not unexpected though in Cornwall. Fantastic views and very comfortable.

I have visited Longships several times. The same problems exist now, the same as they did on my first visit. A brief look in the visitors book continually highlights the same issues. The shower has never been one of the best, but, this time, it was awful. I could not get the temperature up to something that was useable without it cutting out, usually just as I had got covered in soap. I have a very bad back, and baths are difficult for me, especially ones without any handles to help me get out. These bathing facilities might be alright in the middle of summer, but not in the winter. The front door is a joke. There is no security. Anyone with a determined size nine boot would get through it. The cooker still works, eventually! It is seriously out of date. I cannot remember the last time I used one as bad as that. Modern ones are so much better. The situation of these premises is absolutely stunning, and, in decent weather would easily justify all the rave reviews they get, but, for anyone visiting in the winter, the facilities are just not good enough. It obviously all needs updating to a modern standard. The owners seem content to ignore all the adverse comments made by dissatisfied visitors. They really should not. I will not be coming again.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We apologise for the problems you found and will be contacting you directly to discuss compensation. The shower has been replaced since your visit, it was a good make and not old but for reasons I haven't understood yet, its power had slowly deteriorated (not due to scaling in this soft-water area obviously). I have not received any previous comments about the other issues you mention. The entrance has two lockable doors so security should not be too bad, the outer may swell a little in the wet winter weather so needing a good pull to close. It too will be replaced at the next opportunity. The cooker works, as you say; if there is an issue it will be fixed or replaced.
