This cottage for four, one of a pair, has many original features including beamed ceilings and a narrow staircase. Situated near the village of Talsarnau, it lies in the hills between Harlech and Porthmadog. With walks from the door into the hills and surrounding mountains, it is only a short drive across the estuary to the Italianate village of Portmeirion, designed by Sir Clough Williams Ellis and used for the series ‘Prisoner’. Nearby in the former slate quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, is Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets in an underground slate cavern, and Zipworld Titan, the largest zip wire zone in the world, a real mecca for adrenaline enthusiasts. The famous Ffestiniog Railway also runs from Blaenau on a scenic journey down to the coast at Porthmadog. The Cambrian coastline includes Harlech with its castle and sandy beach and Barmouth, a harbour town with a mountainous backdrop, whilst in the other direction the Lleyn Peninsula features the seaside towns of Criccieth and Abersoch.
This property can be booked together with Capel Fawnog Mawr (CC612085) to accommodate up to 10 guests.

Lovely cottage and grounds, great friendly owners who made us feel very welcome. Location was excellent for escaping though if you love on your mobile the lack of reception might be and issue (it wasn't for Us) Wi-Fi in cottage was excellent and were able to use our Amazon Fire stick with no issues. The walks are amazing. The only issue was lack of local amenities, no local shops and pub was only open in afternoons and was not serving food until July. This wasn't an issue as we had a car and Porthmadog was o my a short drive and has largecTesco with free car charging in addition to an Aldi and Lidl so we just stocked up. In summary if you are an outdoor family with a dog this is heaven. Hi just be careful if you own a large car the roads to get to cottage are very narrow..

Lovely relaxing area with good walks straight from the door and plenty of interesting places to visit in all directions. There are no shops at all in the village but Porthmadog, about 15mins drive away, has a Tesco (with free charge points for EVs) and also Aldi and Lidl. Harlech, about 10 mins drive, has a useful shop near the beach where you can get milk, bread etc and other provisions. Recommended places to visit: Barmouth - (lovely old style seaside town with a fantastic, clean beach and good places to eat); Harlech with its impressive castle and also a huge sandy beach; Llyn Mair and the beautiful wooded Maentwrog nature reserve, with miles of well marked paths and tracks and the Ffestiniog railway running through. The cottage, although small, is very quaint and has everything you need. It is an ideal base if you have a dog. Good wifi and tv reception. The lovely owners, whose childhood home this was, live not far away and are very friendly and helpful but not at all intrusive. They come most days to work in the garden. We had a very relaxing week which passed far too quickly.
