The location was great. The house itself was very cozy with beautiful view of the lake. One negative is that oven door was very hard to open once it heat up.

As stated in the property description, at the side of the lake with lovely views, however it does not state that the path down to the lake just takes you to a small jetty with private property both sides so it is not possible to walk any distance round the lake. It would have been helpful if it had also stated that the walk into the town was uphill all the way with the exit from the lane really really steep. The property is very dated which looking at the photos in the description must have been taken some time ago. It also needs a really good clean the dirt and dust down the side of the bed between the bed and wardrobes was disgusting and must have taken years to develop. As stated in previous reviews the oven door! I could not open it at all and when my husband finally managed it we just closed it and did not use at all. I could go on but I think enough said. We were very disappointed!

We felt we could not allow the review of a customer staying only one month before us to go unchallenged. Granted, the location of the cottage is idyllic and is what swayed us when choosing Calgarth. However, we had noted three earlier reviews from June, August and October ’21, referring to the need for spring cleaning, the toilet seat needing to be held up manually and the difficult oven door, assuming these would have been attended to but, in the event, none of which had been done. The free-standing cooker is primitive and the door now almost impossible to open without yanking the whole appliance away from the wall; and a competent joiner could easily resolve the problem of the shelf preventing the toilet seat from staying up. In looking for the wall socket to plug in the lamp provided on the dresser in the bedroom we had to pull out the unit only to find the space thick with dirt… and no socket. The whole presentation of this property is very tired and dated and needs a deep clean and complete revamp. The owner of Calgarth needs to heed and act upon negative reviews.
