Caerlaverock Farmhouse is a bird and wildlife lovers’ dream. Whatever the time of year, there is spectacular wildlife to be seen and where better than from the property’s conservatory. From ospreys and warblers in the spring and summer, to winter when Caerlaverock becomes a wildfowl wonderland, as huge flocks of birds create intricate patterns in the sky as they feed and come in to roost. And don’t forget the badgers which can be viewed each evening all year round from the comfort of the conservatory. Caerlaverock Farmhouse is situated at the very heart of the famous WWT Caerlaverock Reserve, and is warm and comfortable, commanding superb views from its very own observation tower! For the wildlife lovers’ this is a true gem, park your car and you won’t want to leave for a week. There is even an on-site coffee shop and visitors centre shop open all year round. Caerlaverock Wetland Centre is a spectacular 1400-acre wild reserve situated on the north Solway coast, which guests at Eastpark Farmhouse can enjoy at their leisure. If you can bear to tear yourselves away, the property is just a stones throw from everything this lovely corner of south west Scotland has to offer. From historical sites and mountain biking, to challenging hill walks and some of the darkest skies in the world, not to mention over 200 miles of stunning and dramatic coastline with secluded little bays and sandy beaches, this beautiful area has it all. Visit the county town of Dumfries, with high street shops, or visit the smaller towns of Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright, with their variety of niche shops, art galleries and excellent restaurants. Have a wander round the picturesque little villages of Kippford, Rockcliffe and Sandyhills. Shop and pub 4½ miles, restaurant 7 miles.
