The location is beautiful as is the island The cottage is rather basic and there is a persistant odour from the septic tank which was noticable in the house for the full holiday Owners need to do something about this as it has been reported in the visitors book many times

I am actually going to make a complaint about the cottage. There is a problem with the septic tank and the smell was unbearable at times, in fact one day I was physically sick because of it. When I looked in the guest book this had been reported LAST YEAR. Also the trees overhanging the drive are so badly needing cut I couldn't put my car in the drive as they would have scratched the roof !!! I've used this site for over 20 years and it's the first cottage to have absolutely no toilet paper. Luckily we had good neighbours.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for booking Caberfeidh. Yes last year a customer complained about a smell and said it was the septic tank. The plumber immediately identified the smell as soapy water, and discovered the shower was leaking under the floor, which he repaired. Unfortunately you haven’t mentioned where you could smell the “septic tank” from, and therefore I cannot comment any further than say that the cleaning company has made no mention of this. That said I will ask them to check. I will ask then to replenish the loo rolls, and cut the branches hanging over the drive. Thanks you for your comments.

Cottage is lovely, though could do with little bits of updating. All the equipment you could want and comfy beds. Setting couldn’t be better. It’s an isolated rural area, quiet and the drive there, if narrow at times, is spectacular.

We had a very good time at the Caberfeidh, it suited our purpose very well, and as there were only two of us we found it very spacious. Over all the equipment was adequate, though the toaster did not work and some minor things could be added such as a pair of tongs and a stiff bush for cleaning potatoes. We did not use any of the local amenities as we did all our own catering and shopped almost entirely in Stornoway, though we were in Tarberth Harris one day and were very impressed by the butcher there, maybe you should mention it in you booklet.
