Description

Explore the Kent countryside and visit many towns from this holiday cottage, including Canterbury, Whitstable, Hythe and Dover.

Shared hot tub

Boasting their own private balconies overlooking farmland and with shared use of a hot tub, these two adjoining converted oak barns (refs 29409 and 29410) in the owners’ grounds make an ideal holiday base for exploring the Kent countryside. There is even an on-site massage centre which guests can pay for on arrival. Known as ‘The Garden of England’ with its miles of woodlands and fields, including gardens large and small, visit Sissinghurst and Goodnestone Park, where Jane Austen penned parts of ‘Pride and Prejudice’. Approximately 8 miles from Canterbury, where the cathedral dates back to the 11th century, enjoy a concert, or take a river tour. Whitstable, dubbed the ‘Pearl of Kent’ presents a great opportunity to indulge in sampling oysters for which it is renowned for. Alternatively, visit the port town of Hythe, with its interesting antique shops and fishing along the seafront. Roundwood Hall, for golf, is less than 2½ miles away and there is horse riding at Marberdan Riding Centre, 1 mile. For retail therapy, try McArthur Glen designer outlet, as well as Dover and the Channel Tunnel – both within easy driving distance for a day trip to France. Beach 10 miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with beams. Shower room with toilet. Spiral stairs to first floor: 1 twin bedroom with sloping ceiling.

Both properties: Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Combi microwave/oven/grill. Washing by arrangement. Fridge/freezer. Shared lawned garden with furniture. Balcony. Barbecue. Parking (2 cars). Cycle store. Shared hot tub. Massage centre on-site (at cost). Welcome pack. No smoking. NB: Pond in owners’ grounds 5 yards.

Beautiful cottage with a fantastic garden. Very therapeutic detox having no WiFi signal and no phone signal. Hot tub an added bonus, plus wine, milk and home made cake. Owners very helpful and approachable. Good situation to explore Kent. I agree with previous comments about size of dog(s) would be fine for 2 small dogs but not larger ones as cottage is cozy.

It was fantastic. The cottage had all you needed, perfect location in the peaceful countryside. 10 minutes from eurotunnel and Canterbury easily accessible. Made great use of the hot tub and superb owner Tim left us with welcoming gifts of wine milk and homemade cake. We will be returning.

Really enjoyed our stay. Cottage was cosy and plenty of space outside for our staffy to run around. Homemade cake and cava on arrival was a great touch! We hope to be back again when once we’ve had our baby to make use of the hot tub!
