Although the cottage was in a beautifully quiet spot it contained too much furniture and was quite dark inside. The pathway to the property is uneven in places and could be a problem in wet weather.

Lovely surroundings, well kept grounds. Cottage warm and cosy. Many places to walk if that is your thing, but fascinating history within half an hours drive in any direction.

Wonderful. Lovely and quiet. We sat and read while watching the birds at the feeders. (We counted over ten different types) Rush our was either two tractors going past in an hour, or a dozen cycles. The elderly man who owned it was nice to talk to, as was his daughter. The stairs were a bit steep, but we managed. They could use a sign outside saying Buttercup Cottage, as Sat. Navs. are not much good. Ours got us to the middle of nowhere and said we had arrived. I expected it to say. Beyond this point, there be dragons. The night sky was wonderful to see as well. We also managed to do the Settle to Carlisle railway. Again wonderful.
