Marriage ceremonies are still performed over a blacksmith’s anvil and Gretna Green attracts thousands of couples from all around the world to be married each year.It is easy to overlook that there is more to this area than weddings. Ideally placed to not only explore Dumfries and Galloway it is also within easy reach of the Scottish Borders, Hadrian’s Wall, the fells of the Lake District National Park and much more. A stay at Burnside would not be complete without a day’s shopping at Gretna Green Outlet Village, and a must is a trip to the nearby Devil’s Porridge Museum where you can learn the story of how this area flourished into a hub of wartime activity. There is also access to the Solway Coast just 2 miles away, ideal for walking your four-legged friend, although the beach is only accessible at low tide. Beach 2 miles.
