Recently stayed here for a long weekend. The property was clean, comfortable with everything we needed and more. Each bedroom was nicely decorated with comfortable beds & en-suite bathrooms which were very welcome with 10 of us there. Plenty of comfortable lounge & kitchen seating. The location was quite remote but quiet & peaceful. Be careful of the road leading into the property as it has a large number of potholes and uneven surfaces, not very good for your standard family vehicle.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The approach road to Buckland Barn and other farms is owned by the council, work to repair the road has been scheduled in for before the end of the financial year 2018. We regularly use the road even in a Fiat 500 and as long as care is taken it is usable.

A lovely property with caring and responsive owners who were on holiday during our visit. So I suspect the rather haphazard presentation of the cottage was not up to its owners usual high standards. The barn was very cold on our arrival late on the Friday night. An admirably green heating system is installed which is connected to the Wi Fi . Unfortunately the server went down soon after our arrival and the heating did not function effectively after the wi fi returned. This meant that for a considerable amount of our stay the heating was inadequate. Secondary heating in the lounge and emergency plug in radiators would be a useful addition. Visitors have no access to the heating controls ( there are no adjustable thermostats) a frustrating situation we have never experienced before and which means we would not visit again in spring or autumn.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The heating is set to 21 degrees and 19 degrees between midnight and 6am. Our management team responded within 2 hours of being contacted, confirming the heating was working properly and set the heating to run no lower than 21 degrees 24/7 for our guests. The internet monitors the heating system and send us an alarm if there is a fault, the heating is not affected and continues if the internet fails. The heating system had not failed. The internet problem was due to the provider and was resolved within 4 hours of being reported. The comfort of our guests is very important to us and you will see from previous reviews they are normally very happy with their stay.

The house was excellent for our requirements. The whole party thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had a wonderful time. There are quite a few locations within striking distance to visit, both inland and coastal. Appreciated the warning about the challenging approach to the house. We hope that future visitors have as good an experience as we did.

We were a group of 7 adults and 3 children from 4 families, spanning 3 generations. Buck land Barn was the perfect holiday getaway! Big enough that we all had our own space (and each our own bathroom!) whilst cosy enough to provide the perfect setting for a relaxed and memorable holiday. The cottage is spacious, meticulously clean and very well equipped. Whilst the road to the cottage is a little bumpy, this can not detract from the beauty of the location. Close to many amazing beaches, coastal walks, children’s entertainments and gorgeous villages, there is something for every taste and every weather possibility. We spent our days discovering North Devon and Cornwall and our evenings enjoying bbq’s in the beautiful garden or dinners around the huge kitchen table. The owners Cathy and Dale have obviously paid close attention to detail. The fresh flowers, cake and pint of milk for a much needed cuppa on our arrival was above and beyond, but special touches like this made our stay at Buckland Barn a most memorable one. We will definitely return in future!

Buckland Barn is a bright and airy house with easy access to the terraces and the garden. All the bedrooms are a good size and have an en suite. The kitchen is large with enough seating to eat at the table or outside on the terrace. It is well equipped with enough crockery, cutlery and glasses. As we did our own catering it would have been helpful to have had some scales, a hand blender for meals for the children and a larger cafetiere for 8 coffee drinkers! The grass areas are great for ball games or quietly taking in the view. We had good weather so were not confined to the house but there were plenty of games and books available if they had been needed. The parking area is tight and only accommodates 3 cars. The road to the entrance of Buckland Barn is deeply rutted and care has to be taken when driving up and down it.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; It deeply saddens us to read this review as the score is not consistent with previous guests. Unfortunately we have no control over the road to the entrance of Buckland Barn, this is owned by the council, a schedule repair is planned but no time frame given.

One of the best holiday cottages that we've stayed in. Well equipped, modern and spacious. A very tasteful barn conversion in lovely countryside. A downstairs bedroom and ensuite for my Grandad-in-law. An enclosed garden so that we could let our toddlers outside without worry. We would recommend this cottage without hesitation and if we get the opportunity we would love to come back.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; It was so lovely to hear the children playing in the garden, the weather enabled them to enjoy the large outdoor space and I think seeing the cows were a great hit too. It was our pleasure to have you all here and we would hope to see you again in the future, thank you for choosing Buckland Barn as your holiday cottage.

We stayed at this property as a party of 10 with an age range from 68 to 13. We have stayed in many holiday rentals over the last 15 years and this was one of the best. The property was modern, clean and extremely well equipped with excellent quality kitchen appliances. All bedrooms were of a good size with ensuite facilities and we have no complaints regarding the beds, we all slept very well. We were very fortunate with the weather so the beautiful outside space was used often and was ideal for the bbq. The owners were friendly and helpful, with lots of information on where to visit locally. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property wholeheartedly.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your kind comments. We are delighted you all had a lovely time and enjoyed your stay in North Devon. Hope to see you again soon.
