Broomhill Farm Cottage is the ideal location for couples or families with older children who appreciate total peace and quiet with abundant nature on your doorstep. Situated on a working organic farm with sheep, hens, cats and dogs, the cottage is just a 15-minute drive through country lanes to the coastal resort of Bude on the North Cornwall coast with superb beaches at Widemouth and Sandymouth, ideal for surfing and swimming; the renowned Sea Pool is a must. The cottage has been sympathetically converted from an ancient dairy and the accommodation is all on one level with an elegant interior and light, airy décor. Perfect for a getaway at all times of the year; not just during the summer, but for spring, autumn and winter breaks too. The cottage is ideal for a honeymoon or a romantic break. The gardens are a feature of the property and the farm is one of the foremost bird-watching sites in the south west. There are three lakes on the farm that offer free fishing to holiday guests; two are stocked with coarse fish including carp and roach, whilst the third is a brown trout lake. These are not open to the public and are exclusive to cottage guests. Horse riding is also available very locally, and sessions can be arranged for you, to meet all abilities. You are very welcome to bring your own horses as there is DIY livery available on-site and direct access to trails and bridleways.
The Bude Canal runs through the land and the tow path makes a very pleasant walk through the adjoining National Nature Reserve which is an important wildlife and butterfly stronghold. You can also enjoy exciting cycling opportunites direct from the cottage. Clovelly, Port Isaac and RHS Rosemoor plus other famous gardens and historic houses are within easy reach. The cottage is just 2½ miles from Tamar Lakes where fishing, sailing and watersports are available, and there are two golf courses nearby at Holsworthy and Bude. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Barry and Judy are very welcoming and keen that all was as we would expect it to be. The house is well equipped, very comfortable, light and airy, and spotlessly clean. Everything in good order. It was all very relaxing and a joy to return to after a busy day out.

Simply stunning, our only regret is not finding this place when we’ve visited Cornwall before. The location is beautiful, the Farm cottage is spotless and very well equipped and tastefully decorated with fresh flowers in every room and a bottle of wine in the fridge. I have never slept so well and it made me realise I was so in need of a break from work and city life. Barry and Judy, along with the dogs Bill and Skip, are fantastic hosts that will bend over backwards to ensure your stay is perfect and nothing was ever too much trouble, they are so warm and friendly you feel like you’ve known them for years, I’ve missed my visits from the dogs in the morning and we now consider them all our “holiday family”.. Fresh free range eggs for breakfast, golden yokes the size of plates!. Set on the farm are some wonderful walks with fish stocked ponds and picnic tables so you don’t need to venture far for some peace and tranquillity. The constantly stocked up bird feeder sees a multitude of birds, including a family of woodpeckers, visiting the bird table constantly. The whole family agreed this was the “BEST HOLIDAY EVER!” Looking forward to returning next year…

Didn't meet expectations. Bed was hard, sofas far too low and soft. Did not feel comfortable after asking for heating to be switched on because it was unseasonably chilly and met with major resistance and redicule from the owner. Eventually he agreed to program 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening after we agreed to pay £25 for the gas. When we mentioned the low sofas he said that he wasn't running a care home. Yes really! And yet several go back time after time. Obviously they have a different experience.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Very disappointing situation. Their first words to me were: "we visit a large number of holiday cottages but never return to the same one twice". We can see why! We try so hard to give guests a wonderful break; most come to enjoy the tranquillity, cleanliness and peaceful surroundings with abundant wildlife and rural charm. Our lovely guests often return numerous times to see us, the cottage and animals; we go out of our way to look after them and no one could do more to offer them the ultimate holiday experience that they are seeking. We have been open to guests for many years now and never have we had such an unjustified complaint before. Upon departure the property was found to be in an unsatisfactory condition which therefore required extra cleaning. This review is in stark contrast to those left by others (130 to date) which we feel give a more balanced view of the property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Broomhill Farm Cottage which is ideally situated in a beautiful location on an organic farm with access to all areas. We really enjoyed our walks around the farm, woodland and along the canal footpath. Our son really appreciated his introduction to fishing courtesy of host Barry. The cottage itself is well equipped and tastefully decorated, with lots of thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers, free range eggs and a constantly topped up bird feeder enabling us to view the abundance of visiting birds, courtesy of hostess Judy. There were plenty of stunning beaches and delightful villages to visit, but always a pleasure to return to the peace and tranquility of the farm after a long day out exploring.

A beautiful cottage and a very welcome host. Cottage is in the middle of nowhere as advertised and is peaceful and tranquil - the lovely walks and garden make it a place to relax. Lots of different birds and wildlife are visible from the cottage and on local walks. Lots to see and do locally.

If you enjoy peace and quiet and want somewhere to completely relax then Broomhill Cottage is a must. The views from the garden are amazing, truly the most peaceful and tranquil place to spend a little time recharging from a hectic lifestyle. The cottage was immaculately clean and really well equipped, you couldn't ask for more but most important of all, the beds were lovely and comfortable, I haven't slept so well for a long time. Barry and Judy, along with their dogs Skip and Bill are friendly, warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for them, they are the perfect hosts
