Set in glorious countryside on the Cornwall/Devon border, this peaceful retreat is perfect for relaxation and enjoying nature at its finest.

Broomhill Farm Cottage is the ideal location for couples or families with older children who appreciate total peace and quiet with abundant nature on your doorstep. Situated on a working organic farm with sheep, hens, cats and dogs, the cottage is just a 15-minute drive through country lanes to the coastal resort of Bude on the North Cornwall coast with superb beaches at Widemouth and Sandymouth, ideal for surfing and swimming; the renowned Sea Pool is a must. The cottage has been sympathetically converted from an ancient dairy and the accommodation is all on one level with an elegant interior and light, airy décor. Perfect for a getaway at all times of the year; not just during the summer, but for spring, autumn and winter breaks too. The cottage is ideal for a honeymoon or a romantic break. The gardens are a feature of the property and the farm is one of the foremost bird-watching sites in the south west. There are three lakes on the farm that offer free fishing to holiday guests; two are stocked with coarse fish including carp and roach, whilst the third is a brown trout lake. These are not open to the public and are exclusive to cottage guests. Horse riding is also available very locally, and sessions can be arranged for you, to meet all abilities. You are very welcome to bring your own horses as there is DIY livery available on-site and direct access to trails and bridleways.
The Bude Canal runs through the land and the tow path makes a very pleasant walk through the adjoining National Nature Reserve which is an important wildlife and butterfly stronghold. You can also enjoy exciting cycling opportunites direct from the cottage. Clovelly, Port Isaac and RHS Rosemoor plus other famous gardens and historic houses are within easy reach. The cottage is just 2½ miles from Tamar Lakes where fishing, sailing and watersports are available, and there are two golf courses nearby at Holsworthy and Bude. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

All on the ground floor:
Living room: With Freeview TV, DVD player and a selection of DVDs, books and games.

We’ve stayed here several times and in my daughters words : it’s the BEST HOLIDAY EVER!!!! The cottage is fabulous and we were made so welcome by Judy and Barry. We’ll certainly return.

We had a lovely week at the cottage where my son was given the privilege of feeding one of the lambs. The owners, Judy and Barry were very friendly and made sure our stay was a memorable one. Each time we went out we were greeted by the two comical dogs, Bill and Skip, who my son would have happily taken home. The cottage is light, spacious and incredibly clean and comfortable. If you enjoy watching the birds on the bird table, this is an ideal location as there are many different types including the woodpecker who visited daily which you don’t seem to see in the Midlands. The owl flew past one evening too which is a rare sight and all visible through the lounge window. This sight was often in replacement of watching the television as it was much more entertaining. There are many walks that start on the owners’ land and then out into further countryside. We managed a ten mile walk to Tamar Lakes one day but did ache the next (more practice needed I think!) As the cottage is set in a very rural spot, there’s not the light pollution that is often inescapable in towns and cities, therefore if you enjoy star gazing, especially with the aid of the app, ‘night sky’ and a telescope, It’s possible to work out which star you are looking at, or in some cases far off planets, like Venus shining brightly. Overall this is a very well cared for, stunning, spacious cottage in beautiful grounds that doesn’t disappoint. You have to see it in person to fully appreciate it! The friendly owners will either leave you to enjoy your stay knowing they are around if you need them, or there for a chat if you choose. It actually felt like visiting long lost family members, so I can see why this place has won the awards it has as they are fully deserved. Thank you so much for a very memorable holiday, Judy, Barry, Bill and Skip.

Barry and Judy, wonderful hosts. Lovely dogs, always greeted you on arrival. A wonderful cottage to stay in and wonderful grounds to explore. Definitely would suit country lovers, plenty of bird life and quiet surroundings. Would definitely stay there again.
