Set in the heart of vibrant Brockenhurst, the largest village in the New Forest National Park, these two holiday homes are the ideal base from which to explore the many delights this area has to offer. Furnished to a high standard, Cedar Cottage (ref UKC2227) adjoins Marigold Cottage (ref UKC3163), and both properties provide contemporary style accommodation. Both properties offer Sky broadband, and you can relax in front of a TV in either the kitchen/dining area or the living room. From the kitchen/dining areas, patio doors open on to the enclosed lawned garden. The properties benefit from contemporary artwork commissioned from London artist Oliver Watt, with paintings in all rooms to complement the décor. Families with young children are welcomed and well catered for, with lots of toys and games, and additional personal touches such as highchairs, stairgates and cots. When the two properties are rented together, there is access between the gardens with gates opening onto the patio areas, allowing ease of access between them. The properties are within walking distance of local amenities, and are within a 10-minute walk of the local railway station with services to Bournemouth, Southampton and London Waterloo. During the summer, there is an annual spectacle and celebration of forest life called the New Forest Show.

The local area is home to ponies, donkeys and cattle – all of which are known to roam the main street in Brockenhurst. There is a pretty picnic and shallow water swimming spot on the river at Balmer Lawn. For those keen on walking and cycling (there is a cycle hire shop locally which has a large range of bikes, electric bikes, tandems and children’s seats), these holiday homes are ideally situated, being surrounded by ancient woods and heathland. There are cafés, tea houses, friendly pubs and restaurants serving great food as well as Italian, Thai and Chinese restaurants within easy walking distance, and a good fish and chip shop nearby too. Locally there is a hotel with luxury spa, horse riding and golf just a short drive away. You can even explore the New Forest on a double decker bus for a bird’s-eye view of this national park.

Discover some of the quaint villages, towns, attractions and gardens nearby such as Lyndhurst, the sailing town of Lymington which is just a 20-minute drive and offers ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens and the riverside village of Bucklers Hard. The county of Hampshire itself was enjoyed by Jane Austen, with her house and museum in Chawton and her resting place in Winchester Cathedral. Further afield, but well worth a visit, is Monkey World and the Tank Museum near Wool, Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig World, Stonehenge, The Owl and Otter Park and nautical maritime museum at Southampton. The coastline with its beaches at Milford on Sea and Barton on Sea are close by, with Bournemouth and Poole within a short drive to enjoy popular activities such as windsurfing, boating and swimming. Explore the unspoilt countryside of Dorset or the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, from West Bay, Bridport and on to Weymouth, with its superb scenery and coastal walking. Beach 8 miles. Shop 20 yards, pub and restaurants 50 yards.
Cedar Cottage (ref UKC2227) and Marigold Cottage (ref UKC3163) can be booked together to accommodate up to 10 guests.

Cedar Cottage is a very cleverly designed holiday let and, together with it's twin(inside unseen) Marigold Cottage, is situated in a very convenient part of Brockenhurst. Obviously a lot of thought has gone into the design to ensure a very pleasant and well equipped cottage. It is a shame that I have to report 2 problem areas which did not ruin our stay but were very aggravating. The first were extremely creaky floor boards upstairs. My wife and I occupied the rear bedroom with the en suite and being of a certain age visits to the loo in the middle of the night was a very noisy affair and no matter which route was taken the creaks could not be avoided! The second issue, while not exclusive to Cedar Cottage, was the size and location of the wash basin in the en suite. It was very small and had those horrible central, mono-block taps and was situated immediately under the bottom shelf of the bathroom cabinet, consequently cleaning teeth and swilling face was almost impossible - shame. Quite a contrast to the basin in the downstairs loo which was absolutely huge, too bad they couldn't be swapped! It is only fair that I finish on a good note by reporting that the recently installed Hot Tub was magnificent. Local amenities were very convenient for shopping and eating - 3 pubs within very easy walking and all served a good choice of Real Ales. I know what you are thinking - cut out the beer which would reduce the creaks!
