Apart from its beaches and sand dunes, Prestatyn is also famous for Offa’s Dyke, a 176-mile National Trail, which follows the border between Wales and England. Along the trail are the remains of the 8th-century Offa’s Dyke, a large earthwork which is thought to have been constructed by King Offa of Mercia in the mid 700s. Another popular trail starting in Prestatyn is the North Wales Path, which connects Prestatyn to the city of Bangor over in the west. For those seeking a more rural landscape, the Clwydian mountain range, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is right on the doorstep, offering plenty of lovely walks.
