Offering bright and spacious accommodation, with a fantastic hot tub and a large summer house for guest to relax in. Brithdir Cottage, which is a non smoking property, is the perfect retreat for couples looking for a romantic Welsh escape. Attached to the owner’s home, but enjoying its own private access, off road parking and gardens, Brithdir Cottage is a real gem. This single-storey annexe offers contemporary comforts you would expect from a holiday home. On the lower ground floor is a small, but well-equipped kitchen and a modern shower room. The living room, accessed by two steps, is spacious and contemporary, with an electric wall mounted fire and two leather chesterfield sofas, so you can both relax in comfort after a day’s sightseeing. A comfortable, double bedroom with kingsize bed completes the internal accommodation. Outside is an enclosed patio complete with garden furniture, summer house and a barbecue making it ideal for al fresco dining and perfect for letting your dogs run and play. The second garden is just a few steps away, complete with a private hot tub.
The cottage is located in the village of Bodelwyddan, with several local shops, pub and takeaways within a few hundred yards. Less than a mile away, is the historic Bodelwyddan Castle and park, which hosts various events throughout the year, making it the type of place you could visit again and again. Other castles worth visiting in the area are Rhuddlan Castle, which dates back to the 13th century, 4 miles away, Denbigh Castle, 9 miles away, which was also built in the 13th century, but is now in ruins, and Conwy Castle, 16 miles.
The main tourist town of Towyn is 3 miles away. Here you will find fun fairs, bingo, bars with entertainment, amusements, snooker, harness racing, a large market and car boots. The seaside towns of Rhyl, Abergele and Kinmel Bay are all within 3 miles of the cottage, and Prestatyn is only, 9 miles away. Apart from its beaches and sand dunes, Prestatyn is also famous for Offa’s Dyke, a 176-mile National Trail, which follows the border between Wales and England. Along the trail are the remains of the 8th-century Offa’s Dyke, a large earthwork which is thought to have been constructed by King Offa of Mercia in the mid 700s. Another popular trail starting in Prestatyn is the North Wales Path, which connects Prestatyn to the city of Bangor over in the west.
For those seeking a more rural landscape, the Clwydian mountain range, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is right on the doorstep, offering plenty of lovely walks. Other popular activities available locally include mountain biking, golf and fishing. For the more adventurous why not try abseiling, climbing, kayaking, white water rafting or gorge walking at Llangollen’s White Water Active 31, miles away. If that all sounds too exhausting, why not just take a stroll around the nearby market towns of Denbigh and Ruthin, both offering a good selection of shops and cafes.
The property is situated just 5 minutes away from miles of golden beaches that run along the north Wales coastline. Thanks to its proximity to the A55, and located on a main bus route, this is an ideal touring base. Leave the car at home and visit Conwy, Llandudno, Rhyl, Prestatyn, Bangor and Chester. Historic Chester, with its city walls, famous races and of course Chester Zoo, is just a half hour drive. Other places of interest within easy driving distance include National Trust’s Bodnant Garden, 18 miles, Colwyn Bay, 11 miles, the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno and the Great Orme, 18 miles, and Snowdonia National Park, 24 miles. You can even get to Anglesey in just over 45 minutes. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
