We are a family of four including two teenagers and a large dog and we have had a very enjoyable week at Brig of Tig cottage. The cottage is well furnished, clean and comfortable. The 3 bedrooms are all a good size and the bathrooms are good. There is an enclosed garden to the rear which is ideal to let a dog out, and the woodland is literally a few paces away and was perfect for letting our dog run about. The kitchen is well equipped. There are some nice touches which elevate this cottage from other rentals such as waffle robes and slippers in the ground floor master bedroom, dog beds and food bowls are provided, kitchen basics are provided (washing up things etc), and the welcome pack was appreciated. There isn't alot to do in the immediate vicinity but if you're prepared to drive you'll be spoilt for choice. However the rural location is very peaceful and relaxing and exactly what we wanted. We enjoyed trips to Culzean Castle, Galloway Forest Park (twice - it's huge), Wigtown Agricultural Show and Portpatrick. We would definitely return for another visit, thank you Jan & Andy.

This was one of your premier choices and i have to say i was disappointed .We only had the option of two of the three rooms advertised due to decorating .One of the toilets broke on our first day leaving it inoperable. It is a lovely location but I feel for the price we paid it was not value for money

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; With regards to your review following your stay at Brig of Tig Cottage, we feel that we should clarify some of the points you have made. Prior to your arrival we had contacted you with regard to the number of guests staying, you said that it was just the two of you and we informed you that we had one of the upstairs bedrooms recently decorated and that we would not make up the beds. On your arrival you contacted us to say that your wife does not feel safe sleeping downstairs and could you have the upstairs bedroom made up, and also that you had another family member that might join you during your stay. We immediately arranged for our housekeepers Malcolm and John who live next door to the cottage and this was done whilst you were on the phone to us. No other person did stay at the cottage during your stay, therefore, between two of you there were two kingsize beds available for your use. You only contacted us regarding the blocked toilet the day before your departure. The toilet had not been blocked prior to your stay and in the five years that we have let the cottage; this is the first time this has ever happened. Again, we were able to contact Homeserve who we hold a policy for and arranged for a plumber to come out the day after your departure as you had said that you were happy to use the second toilet. Having used four toilet rolls for two people in one week, in our opinion seems a little excessive and perhaps this was the cause of the blockage. You also contacted us the day before your departure to report damage to the en-suite bathroom ceiling light fitting, this caused plaster to be pulled away from the ceiling during your stay which under normal usage would not be the case. We do not understand why you gave a low rating for comfort and equipment as you mentioned to us on the phone how impressed you were with the cottage and how it was presented. We did ring you back on your first day to enquire if there was anything else we could assist you with to ensure that you had a comfortable stay, and you had no other concerns or requests. The cottage was extremely clean for your arrival and to say otherwise is questionable, other than to say you were just not happy. We hope that your future stay in country cottages meets your expectations.

The family travelled a long way from Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire and were not disappointed upon arrival, the welcome pack was much appreciated. A quiet tranquil spot in a forest area with the "Tig" gently flowing by. Cottage was well appointed and we all enjoyed our stay. Enjoyed the scenery of the Ayrshire Coast, Wigtown, Luce Bay and the Mull of Galloway, mother was disappointed not to bump into Errol Flynn in Ballantrae!

We stayed a week in this lovely cosy cottage. The location is lovely set with a river and small wood filled with rabbits pheasants and deer which went down a storm with our dogs. The cottage was well furnished and set out, we loved curling up in front of the wood burner in the evenings. There is plenty to do in the local area, Culzean Castle gardens is well worth a visit, we walked from Maidens along the coast and Port Patrick is very picturesque. If you enjoy walking there is plenty to do in the area.

We had a wonderful Christmas break at this very comfortable and well appointed cottage. It was all decorated for Christmas and there was a generous hamper left for us. We had a quiet and relaxing holiday. Loved the peace, we walked on the beaches and drove along the coast. We were warm and cozy, everything we required was provided. This was definitely a superior cottage decorated and furnished to a good standard. Extra heaters and dressing gowns were provided, but we didn't need them as the burner in the lounge was very efficient. We would definitely recommend and would return here

Very clean with everything that you could need in the cottage. Garden secure which we needed for the dogs. Personally I think the king size mattress could do with replacing (too soft for my liking) bearable for a week. A good drive away from anything (that’s what we wanted) but be prepared to drive everywhere. WiFi pretty poor but to be honest for where the property is, can you expect much more. Struggled to stream anything but had basic tv channels & selection of Dvds. Recommend the property for a getaway, brilliant for dogs especially with the river and woods to the side of the property!
