Cirencester has the remains of one of the largest Roman amphitheatres in Britain which was built in the early 2nd Century, when the Roman City of Corinium (now Cirencester) was second only to London in size and importance.
After the Roman army left Britain it was fortified against Saxon invaders. St Michael’s and Cirencester Parks offer wonderful green spaces to be enjoyed by all with tennis courts, children’s obstacle courses and numerous walking trails.
