This property is part of our Scottish Country Cottages collection

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

On the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, this is an ideal base for those who enjoy wildlife.

Set on a Highland estate spanning 4500 acres with hills rising to 2500ft, these four holiday properties are situated on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park with a wild flower reserve nearby, and an abundance of wildlife including ospreys and huge herds of deer. For 300 years Cistercian Monks spent half of each year at this peaceful place, making butter and cheese and brewing beer from the pure springs that continue to feed the houses. Delightful 18th-century Clover Cottage is reached from its parking area via a short track across a stream. With its own large garden with views towards the great massif of the Grampians. Claypotts is a charming 18th-century cottage, is in an utterly peaceful glen at the heart of the estate with its own enclosed garden on the banks of the River Isla. Croft End Cottage, a 15th-century cottage lies secluded behind double hedges and is a romantic yet fabulously comfortable place perfect for explorers, lovers and honeymooners. Brewlands Cottage is a 17th-century, cosy, very comfortable property in a lovely riverside location with fishing from the garden and views of high hills and surrounding quiet countryside. There are ancient wild flower meadows with rare wild yellow violets and orchids. Red squirrels live around the gardens and the walls support rare ferns and lichens which grow only in unpolluted places. Walking from the door of each cottage. Excellent golf courses at St Andrews, Carnoustie, Gleneagles and Rosemount. Glenshee ski resort is 35 minutes, as is Pitlochry with its theatre, restaurants and kilt and cashmere shops. An adventure centre 20 minutes away, with pony trekking at Balmoral Estate and many castles and stately homes to visit: Balmoral, Glamis, Blair Atholl, Scone Palace and Braemar. Visit the famous Whisky Trail. Riding centre 6 miles. The oldest tree in Europe is in Fortingall, 1 hour. Shops 12 miles, pub 2 miles.

Living/dining room with cast-iron wood-burning stove in stone fireplace, wooden floor, countryside views and country-style kitchen area with granite worktops. Sun porch. Snug with TV. Double bedroom with 6ft bed, cast-iron fireplace and wood-panelled en-suite shower room (power shower) with toilet. Twin bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet.

Recently had s lovely time at croftend cottage. Despite what others say, the fuel costs arnt overly expensive. We spent 4 nights while there was snow on the ground and minus 4 outside and we only spent £30 on faul. The enclosed garden is perfect for dogs to safely play in while your in the hot tub! The cottage was well equipped, clean and warm. The only slight downfall is the seating in the main living room. There is only a small two seater and a small armchair and I wouldn't say they are particular comfortable. There is other seating in the second livingroom but it isn't ideal if your wanting to relax infront of the log fire. It isn't unbearable, just not the best. Everything in all is spot on and would highly recommend.

Very Cold cottage difficult to heat. The wood burner, appears to be in poor condition, doesn't give out hardly any heat . Heating only comes on twice a day, after which the house becomes very cold even with the wood burner going, as the house is single glazed and very draughty it does not retain the heat. The settees and arm chairs are very uncomfortable and very difficult to sit on for any prolonged period. The metered costs for Oil and electricity are extortionate, particularly during a cold spell. Be aware they can easily amount to over £100 + £5 for each basket of logs ( a basket of logs will only last 1-2 days). IT has cost us over £100, this is for 2 people without any adjustments to the preset Thermostat or extra baskets of logs. We have never stayed in such a cold house. Otherwise this is a very pretty cottage in a beautiful part of the country, it is a shame our stay was spoiled by the very expensive fuel bills, which if we had previously known about, we would never have booked this cottage.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We always listen to what our guests say and try to act on comments as soon as we can. For example, the week before you arrived, we installed a brand new £1000 bed as some guests had found the previous mattress too hard. We were saddened to read your remarks, especially since we have had comments on Reevoo since 22/10/18 from 5 different sets of guests, all of whom gave the cottage 10 out of 10. Those guests have described the Cottage as “wonderfully comfy”, (Reevoo), and the guests that stayed the week before you arrived said “the cottage is very well equipped and comfortable” (Reevoo). The Cottage benefits from double-glazing, contrary to your comment that it is all single glazed. Following inspection, the wood burner is in fine working order. You say the cottage was very cold and that you did not touch the time clock, yet you also say that you spent over £100 on fuel. The previous week’s guests, when there was frost at night, and during most days, found the cottage “warm and comfortable” (Reevoo) yet they paid half what you spent… £48.98 for the week’s fuel…. and the guests before that spent £26.23. The time clock sits on the wall at eye level beside the fridge and is fully programmable. Every radiator has its own thermostat. It is entirely up to the guests how much they want to use the heating. If you were uncertain in any way about anything to do with the cottage, we wish you had mentioned it to the housekeeper on one of the two visits he made to you during the week to make sure that everything was OK. He told you that he lives less than a mile from the cottage should you need any help and this information is on the noticeboard and in the information folder along with his contact details. We are sorry that this cottage was clearly not for you: It currently carries a customer satisfaction award so your views seem to be at odds with those of our other guests

Absolutely incredible holiday at a stunning spot. The cottage exceeded expectation. It had a big garden and as my 8 year old said it was ”wonderfully comfy”. Every home comfort I could think of was there, from electric blankets to extra bedding, amazing selection of pots & pans, DVDs, games, baking equipment, bird food left in the gaeden for the huge array of wildlife, easy to use and powerful hot tub.... the list was eldless. Literally better equipped than our house! Situated the the incredibly beautiful Cairngorms but close enough to shops for provisions, this stunning cottage is HUGE with 2 sitting rooms. We used the heating and set it on a timer as well as lighting the fire each night.

Croft end cottage was amazing! From the moment we walked in the place felt like home, with the log burner and hot tub as an added bonus. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you may need. A few miles down the road we found Persie, the local gin distillery and about a further 20min drive and your in Blairgowrie. There’s walks straight from the cottage door and after a little drive there is so much more to explore. We were even lucky enough for a family of deer to walk into the garden one morning. Would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to come back soon!!

Needs a list of prices for activities. Less rock hard mattresses.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. All the prices for activities are on our website, with all the details in the cottage and our housekeeper, Simon, who you met several times, has all the prices too. There is a comment in the visitor’s book the month before you arrived commenting on how comfortable the mattresses are!
