A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Lovely rural retreat for two, with coarse fishing close by, Michelham Priory and Gardens and Sheffield Park Gardens nearby.

Situated on the owner’s 44-acre smallholding, these two adjoining, converted farm buildings (refs 28697 and 28698) offer a rural holiday base with glorious views and opportunities to see native wildlife. There is direct access to footpaths and bridleways; cycle or walk the Cuckoo Trail, which is 14 miles of surfaced pathway through the Sussex countryside, via Horam, Hailsham and Polegate to Eastbourne Park. The properties are not far from the Wealden market town of Heathfield, where visitors may be able to see or hear the cuckoo at the fair in April, which signifies spring. Visit the Ashdown Forest, one of the largest, free public access spaces in the south east and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, known the world over as the home of Winnie the Pooh! Visit the home of Rudyard Kipling, Batemans at Burwash (National Trust) or climb the towers of one of the most evocative castles in England, the moated Bodiam, with its stunning views across the Rother Valley. Michelham Priory and Gardens, Sheffield Park Gardens and the Bluebell Railway make for good days out. Historic Battle and Abbey is 12½ miles, the fishing town of Hastings is 16 miles and Eastbourne is 18 miles. Coarse fishing available (at cost), 2 miles, and trout fishing (at cost), 5 miles. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

All on ground floor: Living room with French doors/dining room/kitchen. 1 double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bath, shower attachment and toilet.

Both properties: Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Two Freeview TVs. DVD. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Shared freezer. We really enjoyed our stay at Windmill Cottage. Quiet location with no traffic noise. Very clean and comfortable, good location for getting to Eastbourne, Brighton, Battle etc. Would stay here again and would recommend. Plenty of space for two people.

The whole package is plus plus plus for a superb short or long stay. Within half an hour by car there is so much the area offers you. We visit England 3 or 4 times a year and our 2 weeks was one of the best of the last decade in England !

Outstanding value for money; beautiful setting in Sussex Weald; good base for trips out in all directions. ESSENTIAL TO CONTACT OWNERS DIRECTLY BY PHONE BEFOREHAND TO GAIN ACCESS. Pleased the faulty external door lock was rectified during our say: access via the French window difficult for the disabled.

Superb location on a lovely farm with incredible views. Perfect for trips out to Eastbourne, Brighton and loads of National Trust properties to visit. But the best part is the peace and tranquility, lambs in the field, wildlife on your doorstep, literally!
