What a wonderful stay our group had at this house! The place is incredible looking inside, feels very glamorous and the pool was wonderful fun. The views are also spectacular! For a big group there feels like there's lots of space and rooms to enjoy. They had everything we needed there (aside speakers but that was no hassle to bring these) and the owners were really helpful (we arranged a surprise for my husband's 30th and they allowed me in early to set up balloons and we also arranged a late check out last minute and they were so accommodating!). If your staying longer than a weekend you might want to drive to enjoy some of the villages and towns nearby (pub isn't quite walking distance so car would be needed). Overall I'd definitely recommend this house, great value for money and a fantastic short break.

Another great stay at Braehill house. This was the 4th time we have been back and everyone always has the best week- such a great house for a big group with plenty of space and nice bedrooms. Kitchen is ideal with tons of equipment, lots of comfy sofas and cosy fireplaces. Minor complaints would be some guests haven't looked after the pool table or cues, and the pool is more 'refreshing' rather than steamy hot but I rather like it that way- you certainly feel revitalised when you come out. Will be sad to see it go when the owners move back in September, so many great memories at Braehill.

Had a lovely time for Christmas with family. Plenty to do with the pool and games room keeping adults and children entertained. Only little grumble is that the house needs a little TLC but that does not take away from the fact we had a lovely time and would recommed!

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Braehill House. My mother loved the kitchen it was spacious and had every thing you need and more. The swimming pool was great and I loved the log fires. We were sad to leave and would have loved to have stayed longer.

The house itself is very spacious and potentially could be fantastic. 12 of us stayed and our general opinion was the house hadn’t been maintained very well at all, just a lot of botched attempts at fixing things, masking tape holding the air hockey table together, a missing tube for the table football so the balls just fall out, a couch in the games room held up by some wood with no proper balance to it, the park trampoline has no safety net and the wood holding it up looks ready to snap, the list goes on. The heating went out for about 30 hours due to the oil running out, just a lot of things that should all be fixed and topped up for new guests for the price that is being charged. We as a family just powered through and still had a wonderful holiday, despite a bit of a bad experience with the owner Ian on leaving. Wouldn’t recommend staying here until a lot of the stuff has been fixed. Views were beautiful and overall we had fun, Edinburgh was great fun highly recommend the tour buses.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We have been letting out our family home to the public to enjoy for holidays for over 7 years now and very rarely do we ever get a complaint about cleanliness nor do many guests leave it in such a mess so you can imagine this has been quite upsetting. We are equally upset about the points you have raised. The house has an average of 600+ guests a year (adults/children) so approximately 4800 people have stayed in our house over the last 7.5 years so there is understandably going to be general wear and tear, more than your average household. As you know, it is a big house and we only get access to it one day a week for 6 hours so it is very difficult for us to be aware of absolutely everything, even down to the last light bulb. We cannot get in to replace cracked tiles etc. unless the house is empty for a considerable amount of time. However, I can assure you the house is always cleaned to a high standard and we always do our very best for our guests to make sure the house is clean, comfortable and has everything they would need. We were informed roughly 8pm that the heating was not working, which my husband attended straight away and got it working for you. We had oil delivered first thing in the morning so this was not 30 hours. We also provided an extra basket of logs. We were very disappointed however when we entered the house on your departure to find the heating on full blast and many windows open! This unnecessary use is likely the reason we ran out of oil when we least expected to, as this has never happened before. Unfortunately, the trampoline net was damaged in the recent stormy weather/high winds and would be more dangerous to leave it on so thought it best to remove this. This does not mean the children could not still enjoy the play park though. You will have seen the sign on the air hockey table saying we were aware of the damage caused by guests leaning on it and cannot source replacements. My husband spoke to you about this and said you understood. We have now decided to remove it completely from the games room. There is nothing wrong with pool table or foosball table, in fact not even sure how it can throw balls out? Many of your issues could have easily been resolved quickly if you had just let us know. Obviously, you have to expect wear and tear in a house that is used by so many people. Many of which love the house and return time and time again. We still do not feel that we deserved for the house to be left in such a mess, this was definitely not how you found it. We had to pull in another cleaner and myself to help our cleaners get the house ready for 4pm for the next guests, which we have never had to do before. We are sorry for this outcome and sorry if you did not enjoy the house, but hope you can understand why we were upset. This was once our family home that my husband built so it can be upsetting for us to see it this way, hence the reason we are moving back in next year.

We ( 6 adults & 5 kids) all had fantastic weekend(3 nights), to celebrate a belated 40th & a premature 70th Birthday. The facilities are second to none, with an indoor pool, games room, plenty of space to lounge around, terrific kitchen, 6 bedrooms, everything well appointed. Could be better signposted, up a single track road, only minor complaint, well recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The surrounding countryside was breathtaking. It was a very relaxing place to stay. It is very remote from any amenities which could be a problem if prior arrangements for supplies are not made. All in all lovely place to stay.

Great few days at Braehill House, only downside was having to leave. Spacious and well equipped, the pool was definitely a favourite.
