Brackenthwaite Holidays offer up to five individual properties for visitors to enjoy so whether you are looking for a solo visit or a big family event, Brackenthwaite Holidays makes a great choice! The Old Farmhouse is located at a family smallholding on the border between Lancashire and Cumbria, nestled within the superb rural location of the coastal villages of Arnside and Silverdale in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) at Yealand Redmayne, just south of the Lake District. Once a working farm, these stunning character properties have been converted into some truly beautiful holiday homes providing comfort, style and a real home feel in the South Lakes. The Old Farmhouse oozes character and charm. Outside, at the front of the property, is a slightly raised, large seating area where you will capture wonderful open views of the countryside and the setting sun. Between April and September, the farm is visited by nesting swallows that have travelled up from Africa for the summer.
An abundance of outdoor activities are available from the doorstep including cycling and walking. Local attractions include RSPB Leighton Moss where the wetland reserve is home to a huge variety of birds, and you may even be lucky enough to see some otters, deer, or water vole. Other points of interest not to be missed are Arnside Tower, Silverdale Beach and Jenny Brown’s Point, The Fairy Steps at Beetham and Leighton Hall Estate.
Yealand, Silverdale and Arnside each have proper country pubs where you can stop for a drink and a bite. A little further out is the charming market town of Kirkby Lonsdale with its cobbled streets and Ruskin’s View, which is a superb viewpoint overlooking the Lune Valley. Visit Kendal, which offers museums, shopping, a cinema, theatre and much more. The historic city of Lancaster, with its castle, and the coastal town of Morecambe, with its breathtaking views over Morecambe Bay, can also be easily reached.
