Perfect for couples, this spacious, contemporary style, semi-detached converted barn with a private hot tub, lies ½ mile from Bothal village and is only a few minutes from the historic town of Morpeth. Bothal Castle dates back to the 1300s and the village itself has some interesting history. All on one level, it overlooks Coneygarth Lake to the front and fields to the rear, which often have horses grazing in them. The property offers a relaxing place to spend some time at and get away from it all. Adjoining the owner’s home with its own private patio which is not overlooked. The stepping stones over the river make a pleasant walk for those who like to get out and about.
Morpeth a pretty, historic, small market town with a great selection of cafés, restaurants and pubs, is only a few minutes’ drive away, and other local amenities including a swimming pool and gym are available in nearby Ashington only 1¾ miles away. Newbiggin-by-the-Sea is just 5 miles, for a stroll along the promenade or a couple of hours on the beach in the bay. The Heritage Coast, where miles of golden beaches and friendly villages appeal to all ages is only a few miles further away, where you can head north and perhaps stop off at Craster for famous kippers, drop into Bamburgh Castle and carry on a little further to Holy Island. Morpeth train station, 3½ miles, is perfect to take you to Newcastle, Durham, Edinburgh or York should you wish to explore further whilst staying in Northumberland. Bothal Barns Drift is in a good central location to explore the many delights of what is reputedly the friendliest county in England. There is easy road access for the Heritage Coast, Northumberland National Park, Alnwick Castle, Newcastle, 20 miles, Kielder Water, 47 miles and Hadrian’s Wall with Vindolanda, 50 miles. We had a brilliant holiday in Northumberland. The accommodation is spotless and the hosts even provided milk and prosecco when we arrived. We loved exploring the area and then relaxing in the hot tub later.

Beautiful, well equipped barn conversion, situated adjoining the owners home. Easily accessible from A1. Large hot tub which was clean and situated just outside the back door. Although given some privacy from the owners home by the way the lid opens, there is a track at the end of the garden which is used twice daily for bringing the horses in and out of the adjoining fields, and the hot tub can be seen from this track. A screen of bushes alongside this track would easily solve this problem, without distracting from the wonderful view. However, this did not stop us enjoying the experience of the hot tub. Morpeth and Ashlington are minutes away, providing shopping and eating opportunities, whilst Newcastle and the coast are within a thirty minute drive. All in all, well worth the stay

A great relaxing place to stay within easy reach of the attractions of Northumbria. Your hosts are on hand if required but let you make the most of your holiday yourselves. The hot tub is a welcome sight at the end of a busy day shopping at the Metro Center or after walking round castles or Hadrian’s Wall. Even if we could have been killed by a tree falling courtesy of Storm Ali, a lovely break in a very interesting part of the country.

Good location for peace and quiet..great beaches and town of Morpeth in easy reach (12-15 min drive). So don't expect a local pub to stroll to of an evening..take your own drink..prepare a lovely meal from ingredients you bought in local shops in a well equiped kitchen and enjoy eating alfresco! The hot tub was a lovely way to end an evening..we even managed a couple of early rises to watch the sun come up. The owners next door were charming and you just got a feeling that nothing would be too much trouble..however, they left us to enjoy our own company and the really well equipped accommodation. They really had thought of everything.
