This semi-detached holiday bungalow is situated in the village of Highampton in west Devon’s rolling countryside between Dartmoor National Park and the west coast. An ideal retreat, furnished and equipped to a very good standard, situated together with a small group of similar properties. It is an excellent holiday location offering a communal indoor heated pool (£10 heating charge from Nov-Mar), barbecue, children’s play area, grounds overlooking Dartmoor to unwind in and a fishing lake. A great holiday location that has something for everyone. The Blue Flag beaches at Westward Ho! and Bude are close by as are many more stunning beaches and coves ideal for surfing and exploring the many rockpools. Golf, fishing and riding are all available locally, whilst the nearby Tarka Trail leads walkers and cyclists through suburb scenery. Locally there are lovely walks and surfing beaches at Bude. The pretty fishing villages of Padstow, Clovelly, Rock and Port Isaac made famous by the the programme Doc Martin, are all well worth a visit as is mystical Tintagel with the legendary King Arthur’s Castle. The wild beauty of Exmoor, Dartmoor, Bodmin Moor and the famous Eden Project are all easily accessible. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Nice place very quiet and cosy only 2 issues for us no internet and hot water was intermittent

Response on behalf of the owner; We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the bolt hole. We do mention that the wifi can be intermittent due to the area and the proximity of the trees surrounding the site. I’m bemused as to the hot water as if you press the button on the wall in the kitchen area 3 times as explained you receive at least 2 hours of hot water and keep pressing when necessary.

Compact but comfy. Lovely local walks, appreciated to the full if the weather had been kinder.

Definitely recommend this place as bijou but had everything I needed for a short stay- or longer if needed. Didn’t try local pub but didn’t seem very busy. Best spot on site having great views and a permanently sunny veranda. All main areas clean but could have been cleaner as behind the bed and bed frame was very cobwebby and dusty- don’t think this area been cleaned for a long time! Swimming pool great advantage too and the lake was peaceful and full of wildlife- saw a grass snake within 5 mins and many butterflies. Bit disappointed with lack of walks on door step. There was supposed to be a footpath further up to countryside but seemed too overgrown and poorly marked. Didn’t want to risk going off piste in a sheep field with a dog. Generally had to drive for a decent dog walk but as I wanted to see different parts of moor/ area then wasn’t a big issue. Welcome pack of basics was a nice touch and plenty of towels, tea towels etc . I felt it was good value compared to other places I had looked at and would recommend it.
