This traditional stone barn has been converted to provide wonderful holiday accommodation, close to St Austell, in a countryside setting.

National Trust Holiday Properties

Edgcumbe (ref NT011078) and Bodrugan (ref NT011091) are traditional stone barns, located on the edge of the old farming hamlet of Penare, now converted into spacious and comfortable holiday accommodation. Both have their living rooms on the first floor to make the most of the views over the countryside, and both also enjoy enclosed gardens. The beautiful beaches of Vault and Hemmick are close by and the perfect spot in which to enjoy rock pooling and sunbathing on their soft sand, as is Gorran Haven, an unspoilt fishing village nestling around a cluster of fishermen’s cottages and a secluded cove. Take a walk from the cottage along the footpath to Dodman Point, the highest point in south Cornwall and enjoy the spectacular views. A haven for walkers, bird-watchers and budding archaeologists alike, the Dodman offers space away from the hustle and bustle and a chance to get back to nature. The fishing village of Mevagissey is just minutes away and it is in this working harbour where deep sea fishing trips can be arranged. The village has many harbourside pubs to while away the day, as the boats come and go. The Eden Project is a short drive from Edgcumbe and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, a treasure of exotic plants and trees, is nearby. Caerhays Castle and Porthluney beach are a must, while in the area, the latter being a favourite beach of the locals. Cycling, golf and horse riding are all available nearby. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
