Stockghyll is an area of pretty woodland and tumbling waterfalls cascading from Red Screes above the Ambleside village and the lake below. The Falls are set in one and half acres of grounds and landscaping on the former site of the old Bobbin Mill. The original buildings have been converted to luxury cottages and apartments with the addition of new accommodation being built in the same slate and stone to blend sympathetically into the area. The Falls are a superb base for local, country and woodlands walks with Ambleside village a short stroll away and Langdale Pike within four miles. If you drive a medium/large car, don’t even try to use the garage. Ground floor bedroom and en suite very cold. Upstairs it was much better. Central heating easy to boost when needed. Kitchen well equipped but don’t think the grill pan had been properly washed for ages - running with grease. Lovely position. Could hear Stockghyll running past at all times. Steep walk down to town and back but worth it - not far though.

Nice holiday cottage tucked out the way above Ambleside right next to a waterfall. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable and within walking distance to the town centre. There's parking in a private garage and a few visitors spots available too. The only issue was the ground floor bedroom was a bit damp and smelt quite damp when we arrived, we had to turn on the heater and open the window to air it out so this probably needs looking at. Other than that it's a nice little cottage, we enjoyed our stay.

Nice cottage but would benefit from a spruce up and a deep clean. Happy with the price we payed but would not pay double to stay in the summer holiday season, a similar property on the same development is £400 cheaper so would look to book that. Well equipped and enjoyed our stay. Please please get a better hoover!!! I had to wash the bed sheets in the double room on the second floor as the were dirty. Extractor hood doesn’t work, only affected us for breakfast so we just opened windows and doors. Location fantastic. If you are unfit or don’t like hills, taxi’s or your car will be the order of the day.
