This charming cottage is pleasantly hidden within the pretty little coastal town of Kirkcudbright. With beamed ceilings and pale walls, this cosy, terraced holiday retreat stands on the cobbled wynd where stained glass artist E A Taylor and his wife, illustrator Jessie M King, used to live. Kirkcudbright is known as ‘the artists’ town’, having hosted generations of painters, craft makers and artisans – a culture still thriving today. Nowadays, Kirkcudbright attracts visitors throughout the year drawn by the harbour, the historic castle and high street with its colourful Georgian houses and the diverse range of annual events and visitor attractions. The popular programme of summer festivities culminates with the spectacular Tattoo, an event not to be missed! The Dhoon’s sandy beach is 1 mile away, which is just perfect for a paddle whatever your age. The Chocolate Factory, Cream of Galloway and the delights of Castle Douglas’s ‘Food Town’ will find you heading to the glorious Galloway Hills. This beautiful county is so accessible and encapsulates the best of what Scotland has to offer. With over 200 miles of rugged coastline, history to capture your imagination, wildlife to glimpse and beautiful sandy beaches shared by a few oyster catchers, you’re sure to return. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
