The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway runs along the coast to Kingswear, opposite Dartmouth. Take a ferry across to visit Dartmouth with its array of shops and restaurants, take a walk around the castle and enjoy one of the tea shops for a Devon cream tea. Away from the coast there are plenty of places to visit, including the picturesque town of Totnes with some fine 16th-century buildings, and once a week there is a popular market. No trip would be complete without a visit to Dartmoor to climb one of the Tors or just take in the beauty and travel across the moor to Tavistock, where you can enjoy some dramatic scenery. There are many National Trust properties and plenty of swimming, sailing and angling. Torquay has a lot to offer, such as the Living Coasts, where the penguins wander freely, and the theatre which has shows all year round. Visit the yachting marina and a selection of fine gardens, in addition to Kent’s Cavern where the remains of some of Britain’s very earliest inhabitants were found. Discover the castles, abbeys, wildlife parks, steam trains and model railways, all within easy reach with many open throughout the year. Stoke Gabriel is only 3 miles away, located on the River Dart, whilst Dartington is nearby, known for its crystal. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

We were at a family wedding nearby so this location was perfect. Beautiful countryside all around. Totnes, Paignton and Brixham nearby. Would have liked some books, playing cards and games to peruse. Would definitely come again.

My family and I had a lovely stay in dandelion cottage. Nice and clean and plenty of space for us all. Ideally located, only taking a few minutes by car to get to the zoo and not far from Totnes. Fresh Cream tea on arrival which was lovely and plenty of tea and coffee to get us started. Will definitely be using again.
