Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Explore Agatha Christie’s summer home, Babbacombe’s model village or the award-winning Paignton Zoo, which are all close by to Dandelion Cottage.

These attractive holiday barn conversions are tucked away in the quiet hamlet of Blagdon and situated just under 2 miles to the nearest beach, ideally located for a family holiday, not just in the summer but all year round. The properties have been renovated to a very good standard, with shared use of a sauna and an outdoor heated swimming pool. Blagdon House Country Cottages (ref 28149, 28150, 28151, 28152 and UKC184) can be booked together to accommodate up to 28 guests. Cherry Cottage (ref UKC184), the latest addition to the Blagdon House Country Cottages collection, stands out as a particularly special holiday accommodation. With a woodburner and a downstairs twin bedroom with a wet room close by, this semi-detached property is ideal whatever the weather, and also offers great ground floor facilities.

There are many tourist attractions in the vicinity including Agatha Christie’s summer home, Babbacombe Model Village, and the award-winning Paignton Zoo. The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway runs along the coast to Kingswear, opposite Dartmouth. Take a ferry across to visit Dartmouth with its array of shops and restaurants, take a walk around the castle and enjoy one of the tea shops for a Devon cream tea. Away from the coast there are plenty of places to visit, including the picturesque town of Totnes with some fine 16th-century buildings, and once a week there is a popular market. No trip would be complete without a visit to Dartmoor to climb one of the Tors or just take in the beauty and travel across the moor to Tavistock, where you can enjoy some dramatic scenery. There are many NT properties and plenty of swimming, sailing and angling. Torquay has a lot to offer, such as the Living Coasts, where the penguins wander freely, and the theatre which has shows all year round. Visit the yachting marina and a selection of fine gardens, in addition to Kent’s Cavern where the remains of some of Britain’s very earliest inhabitants were found. Discover the castles, abbeys, wildlife parks, steam trains and model railways, all within easy reach with many open throughout the year. Stoke Gabriel is only 3 miles away, located on the River Dart, whilst Dartingtion is nearby, known for its crystal. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with tiled floors. Separate toilet. First floor: 3 bedrooms: 1 kingsize, 2 twin (2ft 6in zip and link, can be kingsize on request). Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Very cute cottage. It sleeps six but with only one bathroom it's more suitable to a couple with children rather than 6 adults. There is a generator outside the main bedroom window, so noisy for sleeping, had to keep windows shut. For the money it cost for two nights I would expect there to be a washing machine in the cottage and not have to pay extra to use one in a shared block. We were there out of swimming pool season so can't comment on that.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; You are right to point out there is some noise from the bedroom. This is a from a pump which was recently installed in the field opposite the cottage. We are aware of this & are now sound-proofing the pump. Dandelion cottage is located in a quiet rural valley. We know how special this is & will make sure our guests peace is not disturbed. Dandelion Cottage has an upstairs bathroom & a downstairs second toilet. Our laundry room is next door to Dandelion Cottage & equipped with washer, dryer, drying lines, ironing boards, vacuum cleaner etc. We hope to supply everything you may need in one place. We have five cottages on-site, which feedback tells us is a fair ratio for shared facilities. We charge modestly (£2 max) for use of the washer & dryer.

Lovely cottage, very secluded and peaceful. Loved the welcome cream tea and fresh bread. Central heating meant cottage was nice and warm. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A warm welcome from Helen and Piers at their beautiful Devonshire cottage. Although you are in the countryside with the gorgeous views, the attractions are only a short distance away by car (approx. 30 minutes for most). If you like to swim they have a lovely pool that is shared by only a few properties so it doesn't get overcrowded. I would recommend this holiday to everyone.

We found the complex with ease following excellent instructions and it was located in a very picturesque spot. The cottages were converted from an old farm building and were very tastefully decorated and well appointed and very much to our liking. The parking was spacious and the shared facilities were excellent. The pool was the favourite as we were lucky to hit some glorious weather.
