Large cottage for a lovely family get together. Comfortable, well equipped, with added bonus of a pool which the children loved. Lovely location, near to York and under an hour's drive to coast.

The Granary was a wonderful base for our two families to explore North Yorkshire. It was great to be able to run two showers at once! Sounds silly but getting 7 people ready would have been awful if we were having to take it in turns. We enjoyed a day out in York- by train from Thirsk station. Also a fantastic drive out to Whitby for our fish and chips.

The Granary is a terrific, spacious cottage with plenty of space to not feel overcrowded even with 9 people. The beds were very comfy with good sized bathrooms and the very spacious livingroom meant the kids and adults could occupy the same room without disturbing each other. We really enjoyed the large private garden and the swimming pool, although the pool is best descibed as "not cold" rather than "heated". The only draw back was the lack of a dustpan and brush and the intermittent high pitched whine in the downstairs bathroom.

The Granary was a lovely spacious house, ideal for our family reunion celebration. We were there Friday to Friday; for the first weekend there was another group in one of the other houses, but for the rest of the time, Monday to Friday, we had the whole complex to ourselves. This meant we had freedom to use the pool at any time - much appreciated because it must have been one of the hottest weeks of the summer! There were a couple of minor niggles: a brush was provided to keep the kitchen floor swept clean, but no dustpan or hand shovel, so it was a challenge to dispose of the sweepings. Also there was a beehive/nest under the eaves by one of the bedroom windows which meant that the window had to be kept closed to avoid bees coming in - not ideal in hot weather. These didn't spoil our enjoyment of the place, but a defects report book in the property could help to let the cleaning company know what to correct for the next guests.

Such a lovely, clean base for our family gathering! We loved the large lawn, the sunsets and the spacious rooms in the house.

We booked this to celebrate a family birthday. The accommodation was perfect, nice and spacious and suited our group. The pool was great for our grandchildren and we had fun teaching them table tennis! The only negative, not a lot of toilet paper to cover sell the toilets and people, we had to juggle. Also as previously mentioned in the visitors book only 1 black bin liner more would be useful.

The information in the house could of been more helpful. When the heating didn’t work, the only thing we could do was ring the housekeeper. We had no control of when the heating came on or off. We had no bins outside the house and there was no details where they were or about recycling. I had to walk a round to find any. I did ask the management team leader, who said where to put the rubbish. One of the days when it was the Our turn to go in the pool. The whole time we had at least 7 cleaners/ maintance people walking past us, the outside door open, in the way when you wanted to go into the changing rooms. Carrying large bags past us all the time, which made the time not as much fun more like being watched. The stone floor in the kitchen could of done with a large mat to take off wet or muddy shoes instead of a the usual door mat, especially as the house was for 9 of us. It would help to keep things clean. The housekeeper from the management team was helpful in replacing the batteries in the house torch. My husband repaired the overflow pipe that wasn’t attached to the kitchen sink.
