Located on the owners’ working farm in the village of Betley, these two semi-detached, brick built barn conversions offer tasteful and comfortable accommodation close to the Cheshire/Staffordshire border making them the ideal touring base for families and couples who like plenty to see and do. The barns have been thoughtfully renovated to retain as much of their original character as possible and there are beams in every room, giving them a real homely feel, yet they also have all the comfort one expects, such as contemporary kitchens and shower rooms, flat screen TVs and Wi-Fi.
Situated on the owners’ farm is Betley Mere, a 26-acre natural lake formed during the Ice Age. It is ideal for beautiful walks, bird watching and coarse fishing (permit required from owner). The owner can also provide cooked breakfasts and picnics, by arrangement and there is a tea room on the farm.
As well as being a working farm, there are many events held throughout the year, including the village show in August, an annual 3 day summer festival (headlined in 2016 by Bryan Adams), and one of the UK’s largest bonfires and fireworks displays. Children will also love being on the farm around lambing time and there are two pubs, both which serve food, within walking distance. Surrounded by 180 acres of farmland, the area is great for walking, with plenty of public footpaths accessible directly from the grounds. Coarse fishing is available on site (permit available from the farmhouse). Other popular activities locally include golf and mountain biking or, for those who want something a bit different, why not try the Go Ape Forest Adventure at Delamere, 26 miles, or motor racing at Oulton Park, 18 miles. A wider range of amenities can be found in Crewe or Newcastle-under-Lyme which are both 7 miles away. Trentham Monkey Forest is a great day out for families, and is situated just a short distance. The charming market town of Nantwich which has lots of historic buildings as well as plenty of bars, shops and cafés is 8 miles. Children and adults alike will enjoy a day out at Chester Zoo or Alton Towers, both 30 miles. Other places of interest close by include Bridgmere Garden World, 5 miles and The Potteries at Stoke-on-Trent, 14 miles, with North Wales also very accessible. Whether you like to stay active or simply want to just relax, these lovely cottages offer something to suit everyone. Shop and pub 800 yards, restaurant 1 mile.

Thought that supplying dressing gowns and slippers was such a lovely idea. Only criticism is lack of a DVD player, but definitely not the end of the world. Lovely cottage, would love to go back.

Very comfortable beds and spotlessly clean. The homemade fruit cake was very delicious with lots of cherries and other dried fruits. Jayne was very friendly and helpful. An added bonus was having breakfast in the cafe before we started our journey home.

The cottage has everything you need for a very comfortable stay, the host is very welcoming and informative. Take your binoculars as The Mere is outstanding, we saw Kingfishers, Herons and lots more. We found plenty to occupy our time and would certainly come here again.

Stayed for a long weekend, the cottage was of a high standard, spotlessly clean. The hot tub in the garden was lovely, people commented about it being noisy from the road but I have to disagree it wasn't! The host Jayne was very polite and helpful. Would definitely stay here again :)

Had a fabulous few days away for my mums birthday. Provided with homemade jam, bread, fresh eggs, butter and milk on arrival which is a lovely touch. Very welcoming friendly family business and perfect facilities for a chill out weekend away. Thank you for a lovely treat!

It's such a shame because the cottage is gorgeous, the hot tub is great but it is too close to the main road. Every time a car passes by, the whole place vibrates. It would probably be ok if you are used to traffic but I found it very difficult to relax or sleep. I'd also booked this cottage because it was 2 bedroom but one of the bedrooms was locked on arrival. I think it was because the bed was faulty but closing the room did make the cottage feel quite small and affected how I rated the cottage on value for money. I don't think we would have paid as much as we did for a 1 bedroom cottage. We did request for it to be unlocked on the last night to give us more space and that was done for us. We appreciated the effort the owner went to to return a charger we had left in the cottage and have included that in the ratings.
