Bess’s Cottage can be found on the owners working dairy farm in the village of Byley, in the heart of Cheshire countryside. Converted from stables in 2018 and fondly named after a former resident, it makes an excellent base to do as much or as little as you like. Just 2 miles from the ancient settlement and market town of Middlewich, known as a small town with a big character, it’s home to everything from listed and historical buildings to modern amenities. A wonderful bonus is the beautiful canal system which provides ample opportunity for towpath cycling or strolls, or even a relaxing boat trip.
Located between historic Chester and vibrant Manchester, and being just minutes from the M6 means that transport links are fantastic. The surrounding area boasts a wide range of attractions which cater to all needs from the bright lights of city centres, to historical buildings and furry animals. The National Trusts Tatton Park and Little Moreton Hall can be reached in approximately 20 minutes, and Gawsworth Hall and Beeston Castle around half an hour. Delamere Forest and Manley Mere can also be reached in around 30 minutes, and Chester Zoo, Blue Planet Aquarium and Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet are all within 30 miles. The cities of Manchester, 26 miles, Chester, 23 miles and Liverpool, 38 miles are worth visiting for a touch of retail therapy. The Peak District National Park is around 45 minutes and the North Wales coast around an hour. You really are spoilt for choice! Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.
