Description

This property is located adjacent to the Balnaha Forest - ideal for hill walking, cycling and experiencing the stunning views.

This delightful, semi-detached holiday cottage is situated in the hamlet of Balnaha Forest and has a traditional cedar shingle roof. It is located immediately adjacent to the forest, where hill walks and cycle routes abound, and is also within easy walking distance from the Victorian village of Strathyre. There are endless miles of forest roads and trails to explore, both for walking and cycling, from a gentle stroll by the River Balvaig to a vigorous hike to the summit of Benvane, or a relaxing boat trip on Loch Katrine. The tree-clad slopes around the village which sweep down to the shores of Loch Lubnaig change from spring greens to autumn russets and golds, making the surroundings spectacularly beautiful all year. The area is also rich in Scottish history, with many stories relating to Rob Roy Macgregor, whose grave can be found in the kirkyard at Balquidder. The bustling tourist town of Callander is only 10 miles away and can also be reached on the cycle path. Within easy driving distance are Loch Lomond, Gleneagles, 50 minutes, and Stirling, 1 hour. Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth can be reached in 1½ hours. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Lovely located cottage, plenty of room inside. Well equipped, and with excellent beds. Very good starting point for exploring Loch Lomond and The Trossachs.

a well equipped and good place to stay in. good size of refrigerator, comfortable beds, neighbours were very helpful and welcoming. Just one thing would be better if we could get it, the wifi. Cause we needed to plan ahead where to go on the following days. but we had to go out of the cottage and walk may be 50 yards to get phone signal. but the overall experience was good. lovely rooms, 2 toilets, 2 parking on the front, good view from the window. and near to the town centre. The owner was cooperative and responded any query instantly. I'm giving overall experience 7 because of Wifi cause we had no signal on our phones on top no wifi service.

The best decision I made, if your looking for a real escape in one of our countries most beautiful settings then this is perfect! The cottage is gorgeous warm and cosy, with local walks and some hikes with some spectacular views. The owner couldn’t have made it more easy and completely felt at home the whole time. I will for sure be booking again.

The cottage was not without its problems but was comfortable enough for us to have a nice Christmas. Warm and cosy. Cooked full Christmas dinner on Christmas day. All the locals very friendly one even towed our car out of the snow.

We enjoyed a very comfortable stay at Benvane cottage, very clean and cosy. Our bed was extremely comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised by the cottages location, and enjoyed trips to Killin, Callander and Loch Katrine. Plenty of places within decent distance to explore, as well as hill walks. There is a shorter moderate forest hill walk ten minutes walk from the cottage called Benn An t-Sidhean and is sign posted. There isn’t any WiFi at the cottage itself but this proved to be advantageous giving us an escape from the madness of daily life I thoroughly recommend it!
