Nestled in the South Downs this beautiful holiday cottage with swimming pool has been in the same family for three generations retaining the homeliness and atmosphere of an individual and cherished family home. Bell Meadow sits in an acre of grounds in a wonderful rural setting surrounded by countryside. In the summer it is a fantastic home for up to six adults (or a family of seven where there are children), and out of season it offers a lovely environment to relax and to explore the local area around the South Downs with both Arundel and Petworth being just five miles away. The outdoor swimming pool is the main feature here, surrounded by flower borders and shrubs, it is available from May through to the end of October. Please note it is not heated and guests will need to bring their own pool towels. In addition there is a table tennis table on a covered deck with drinks fridge, a small indoor pool table and a small football pitch with goal nets for the kids (and grown-up kids!) to enjoy.

The house is really nicely and traditionally presented accommodation and is largely on the ground floor making it ideal for a multi-generational family holiday. The living room is the central feature, bright and airy with double doors to the garden. The country kitchen is well-equipped, and the dining area enjoys wonderful views across the adjacent field where horses graze. There are two bedrooms, a family bathroom and a shower room on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a large bedroom with three single beds. The extensive meandering gardens are very nicely maintained and make such a relaxing environment. For anyone who lives a busy life and simply relishes the opportunity to be somewhere rural, this is just the property to tick those boxes.

Bell Meadow is located within the boundary of the South Downs National Park. It is just one mile south of the picturesque village of Fittleworth with its popular pub and local walks along the River Rother. You can also visit one of several vineyards in the area such as Stopham Vineyard or Nyetimber, showcasing the best of British winemaking. Petworth is best known as the location of the stately home Petworth House and deer park which was landscaped by Capability Brown. The house and grounds are owned by the National Trust. The magnificent country house contains an internationally renowned art collection with numerous works by Turner. Petworth itself was immortalised in his paintings. The town is full of quaint houses and cottages, many within their own courtyard settings. They are interspersed with antique shops and tea rooms so it makes the ideal place for a stroll following a visit to Petworth House and Park. The South Downs are just a short drive, and to the west at Bignor where the South Downs Way and Monarchs Way cross.

The Downs offer a myriad of local paths in addition to these two long distance trails. Visit the historic town of Arundel on the banks of the River Arun, best known for its imposing castle which has been home to the Dukes of Norfolk for over 400 years. The cathedral also stands prominently at the top of the town. The famous Goodwood Estate offers a range of activities including a championship golf course, the motor circuit racecourse and aerodrome. All offer an exciting calendar of events throughout the year with particular mention to the Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival and Glorious Goodwood. Shop 1¾ miles, pub and restaurant 1¼ miles.
