Description

With a backdrop of ivy and trees, this detached, single-storey lodge is an ideal getaway, set in the Sussex countryside.

This lovely, detached, single-storey lodge is set against a backdrop of ivy and trees, and adjacent to fields opposite the local traditional pub serving food. Ideal for couples or small families, Beechwood Lodge is only about ½-mile from an unspoilt, pebble beach, sand dunes and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. A farm shop selling local produce is also approximately ½-mile in the other direction. It has an enclosed, slightly elevated woodland area, which is a haven for wildlife, including the occasional deer, pheasant and various birds. Inside, the property offers tastefully furnished, light and airy accommodation, with a ‘deer’ theme, to give the feel of a hunting lodge, and there is a sofa bed in the open plan living area, for up to two children. The shower room and toilet is en-suite to the master bedroom.
There is plenty to do in the area, with Arundel close by, famous for its castle, lanes with book and antique shops, plus Wildfowl and Wetlands Wildlife Centre, Pulborough Brooks RSPB, popular beaches at The Witterings, Worthing and Bognor. It is within easy driving distance of Chichester with the cathedral, festival theatre, leisure facilities and Goodwood or Fontwell Races plus Midhurst with Cowdray Polo and shops. There are many scenic walks including the South Downs National Park. There is also the cosmopolitan city of Brighton to the east with its Royal Pavilion and Portsmouth to the west, which has Spinnaker Tower, ferry trips to the Isle of Wight and designer retail shopping. National Trust homes and gardens, such as Goodwood House, Parham Park, Petworth House, Stanstead Park and East Dean can all be easily reached. Outdoor pursuits such as golf, horseracing, various water sports and cycle routes can all be found in the area. Beach ½ mile. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 20 yards.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with double sofa bed (for children). 1 double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet.

Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot and high chair on request. Freeview TV. Electric cooker. Microwave. Wi-fi. Enclosed woodland area with sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (2 cars). Welcome pack. No smoking.

This was an amazing place to stay for access to all of the resorts in East and West Sussex. The lodge was spotlessly clean and well thought out for comfort. We could relax here and then go off to Brighton, Goodwood and the Witterings beaches with ease! The farm shop at the end of the road was very well stocked and the Black Horse pub provided excellent meals. A most lovely place to stay!

Nice design and use of space, full cooker and freezer compartment makes huge difference to living daily 👍🏼 Garden.....massive disappointment! For a small amount of money could be transformed, table green and covered in bird poo, ivy over foot high, no patio/deck so unable to use to sit in and relax, fencing at front dangerously low for a medium/large dog! Could do with a little thought and spending.

Our stay suffered due to things outside the control of the owners so no real negatives to give them. It was mosquito hatching week and the cottage was full to the brim . We left after 3 days a badly bitten couple. The woodland garden is great for the dogs and fully enclosed but a bit of a mozzy trap. Great beach a few mins away. The pub is around 12 feet from the font door. A mixed blessing.. If you like the pub literally on your doorstep great. If you like pub people looking at you less great. Our dogs spent the 3 days barking at people outside the pub, but that's our dogs problem not the owners. Bed comfy..Well equipped and designed. So I'm sure many will enjoy butbwe left covered in bites and we didn't like the pub being literally outside the window. Friday was live music until late too. But the owners have converted it really cleverly with the space and many will love it.

We didn't actually have a pen to leave a review, we loved it and really wish to return. Excellent lcoation, staff in the pub across the road made us very welcome and offered to bring drinks across to us if we wanted! The cottage has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Perhaps a little on the small side for 2 dogs but managible.
