This is a really lovely, well equipped cottage, with tastefully decorated, spacious rooms. The kitchen has everything you might need, including a washing machine, dishwasher, and beautiful crockery. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable with fresh bedding and towels and there are two bathrooms and an additional toilet. The owners very kindly left a welcome pack with milk, butter, bread, tea and coffee so that was really helpful when we arrived. We visited last week (early December) so as you can imagine the weather was very cold and snowy, but the cottage was cosy and warm and the living room has a lovely wood-burning stove and an initial supply of logs. It's worth noting that Beech Cottage is not very close to local amenities, the nearest small towns, Biggar and Douglas are all about 25 minutes drive away (both worth a visit). We had our granddaughters with us, so although we did have a lovely walk locally, it was a little drive to the swings and other amenities. I cant say much about local pubs and restaurants as we did all our cooking at home, but I would suggest trying to get all your grocery shopping in advance or having it delivered. Overall though, we really enjoyed this beautiful cottage and would certainly visit again.
