Along Sandgate High Street you can enjoy breakfast or lunch in the local coffee shop, or walk across to The Ship pub with its second floor balcony overlooking the beach. There is a local corner shop and many restaurants including the famous Rocksalt restaurant in Folkestone Harbour, owned by Gordon Ramsay’s Protégé Mark Sargeant, listed in The Times as one of the best top 20 beach restaurants in Britain.
Folkestone is a short drive away, or you can even walk along the beach to Folkestone. Visit Port Lympne Wild Animal Park with tapirs, black rhinos, elephants, tigers and lions, and the world’s largest gorillarium ‘The Palace of the Apes’ and the African Safari Experience. For a more leisurely day out, enjoy a ride on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Steam Railway from Hythe to Dungeness Lighthouse, via Dymchurch and New Romney. The Lower Leas Coastal Park at Folkestone is ideal for cycling or spend a day at the races at Folkestone Racecourse. There is golf, sailing and fishing locally, and good train connections to London. An enjoyable stay. Not the best beach in the area by far but nice to have on the doorstep when not wanting to travel to get the sand. This beach is heavy stone. The immediate vacinity has a base level of amenities, but nothing exceptional. The flat is located in a block of largely social housing which was not expected, no issues around this were encountered however. The flat is secure and feels safe. The location is one street back from the coastal road where the more premium locations are situated. There is a pleasant view from both the lower and upper floors with the master bedroom enjoying a view of the sea. Parking was a concern but turned out to be fine with a resident visitors pass, although you do need to fight for a space between 10am and 4pm and have a 2hr max parking time without it. Free parking is about a mile away between the hours of 8am and 6pm. The owner is mega helpful and this was a huge plus. Also the flat is very well appointed with nice bed sheets and modern and relatively new equipment.

This is a lovely apartment, and it is beautifully decorated in a beach style theme. Do not be put off by the rather municipal stairs leading up to the apartment, once you get inside it is delightful. We had a lovely break and particularly enjoyed the fresh baguettes from the Comemos cafe down the road. Thank you very much.

'Beachcomber' is beautifully decorated inside and has everything you could need for a comfortable stay. When we arrived and some of the electrics weren't working, the owner sorted out the problem very quickly which we really appreciated. The flat is in a good place for exploring the Kent coast and there is lots to do in the local area. It is also very close to the wonderful pebble beach which we loved - we went everyday. Sadly, the flat is on a busy road where there is traffic constantly through the day and into the evening - it's very noisy and meant that we couldn't have the windows open as often as we wanted. Added to this it is opposite a pub where there is entertainment on a Thursday and Saturday night, as well as people smoking/drinking outside which was also loud. Back in the day we would probably have joined them but now we have a toddler it just meant we didn't really get to sleep until midnight most nights. Parking was difficult for us - perhaps we were just unlucky - and everyday we had to park the car some distance from the flat and walk back. This was a problem when loading the car at the end of the holiday. I have mixed emotions writing this review because the flat is really lovely inside and the beach/local area is a huge bonus, but had we known about the road and pub I doubt we would have booked to come here - it was too noisy for us and not the 'village' location/relaxing stay we were looking for.

We liked the flat very much, there are just two slight disadvantages. The Location at the High Street was very loud, so we could not leave the windows open. This was a disadvatage mainly at night in the main bedroom. The other disadvantage refers to the entry. The dirty bin were placed everywhere and we had to pass them to get to our flat..

Sun, sun , sun... The pebble beach near Sandgate castle just across the street - the girls simply loved it. Also a good starting point to discover Kent. Newly renovated flat crested with beachcomber atmophere - a gem within a so-so house - pointing out the potential of a tasty arrangement. Parking sometimes a bit tricky.
