Situated on the Isle of Cumbrae, this charming cottage with secluded garden is located only 100 yards from the sandy beach with tropical palms fronting the promenade and yachts moored out in the sheltered bay. From here you can explore the charm of this seaside town, with cafés, shops and bars and bistro. A haven for wildlife, Cumbrae attracts migrant birds from around the world and the flora of the island is equally varied, with a visit to the island’s Marine Research Station with museum and aquarium a must. Millport is also the home of Europe’s smallest cathedral and Britain’s narrowest house.
An ideal location for cycling, walking and golf, along with a variety of water-based activities. The centre of the town has Garrison House, which houses the Museum of the Cumbraes. You can wander to Crocodile Rock or Britain’s narrowest house, The Wedge, pop to the country music festival in September or go fishing either at the freshwater reservoirs or on sea fishing trips. Visit one of the wide sandy beaches for both paddling and swimming. You will find a lot to do for the whole family. The main Newton Bay offers sheltered anchorages and secure moorings.
There is a bus stop near the junction of Woodlands and Kelburn St for easy access around the island. The garden is communal but fenced off with a gate nearer the cottage, the rest of the green behind it is also accessible. There is a number of cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars along the road as Kelburn St turns into Glasgow St as you walk towards Millport Centre. Mapes of Millport Cycle Hire is further down towards Millport centre where you will find a large number of shops including newsagents and grocery. It is all within walking distance and mostly flat.
Undergoing full refurbishment in time for a June start.
