Could be cleaner - oven very dirty , filled cottage with choking fumes when used , lots of clutter in kitchen cupboards but minimal useful items

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are very sorry about Sue’s review. We always check the cooker between lets and so it would have been clean at the start. It’s an Aga Companion which partially self-cleans, if you have it on a very high temperature it can burn off any residues on the cooker walls. We pride ourselves on having a clean and well-equipped cottage, as is illustrated by the positive feedback we receive in Reevoo, in person and in our visitor’s books.

Both ourselves and our family had a very enjoyable stay at the cottage. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding very clean. The cottage was very cozy and characterful. Everything was in excellent order. Downside: we found a few cobwebs, there was nothing to get them down with, a feather duster would not go amiss. The ivy over the front window needs extremely cutting back as it made the front room very dark. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ps we found the pub cozy but expensive for meals. We would definitely recommend as it was so peaceful and relaxing. We hope we left the cottage in a neat and tidy condition.

Bay Tree cottage is a lovely place to stay for a week. There were six of us and a dog and we were very comfortable. The village of Alveston is very pretty and safe for a quiet walk, although not easy to walk by the river due to the overgrown nettles. The nearby pub (The Ferry) is friendly and only a short stroll away, and parking was never a problem for us. We had one visit from the owner, who was a friendly and welcoming. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again next time we visit the area.
