The train station is also within walking distance for those that may want to leave the car at home, and there is also a bus stop close by. Weymouth is a popular seaside resort which has many restaurants, shops and cafés, and is also ideal for walkers and cyclists. Water sports available include kite surfing, wind surfing and sailing. The Georgian harbourside, the Sea Life Centre and observation tower are also worth a visit.

Portland is nearby, which has the National Sailing Academy, a lighthouse and Portland Castle, which is considered to be one of King Henry VII’s finest coastal forts. Weymouth is located in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic coastline, so which ever direction you decide to take there are excellent coastal walks, coves, and amazing cliff top views. There is a Jurassic Coast bus from Weymouth to Poole or Exeter so you can explore your favourite places along the coastline, including fossil hunting along the way! Other place to visit include Bridport, Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Abbotsbury, Dorchester, West Bay and Chesil Beach. Beach ½ mile. Shop 220 yards, pub and restaurant 330 yards.
