There are many different walking routes to explore right from the doorstep and you are perfectly positioned between coast and mountains; whichever direction you look there’s magical scenery to take in exploring this wonderful area. There are award winning beaches such as Llanadanwg, which was voted top beach in the UK; Black Rock Sands where you can safely drive your car on the beach; and Harlech Beach with miles of sweeping sands and dunes. Harlech is also home to an imposing castle which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Only a short drive across the estuary is the famous Italianate village of Portmeirion along with Porthamdog, a busy harbour town and home to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railway; a must visit for families and rail enthusiasts alike. Nearby is the former slate quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, now a mecca for adrenaline junkies with Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets in an underground slate cavern, and Zipworld Titan – the largest zip wire zone in the world. Less than 20 minutes away is the picturesque village of Beddgelert which is steeped in history and folklore; there are lovely river walks for all abilities here surrounded by impressive scenery. Sygun Copper Mine is also here and is well worth a visit for all ages. Beach 5¾ miles.
