We had a nice holiday but unfortunately it rained for the 2 weeks we were there. The cottage was fine but we spent more time in, had the weather been ok we could have made the most of the gardens and lovely walks nearby.o

Sorry to say that this cottage looked nothing like the advertisement. It was very tired looking on the outside and was in a dark valley. The garden which promised much was around the back and the only window was at the front, so no view of it and you had to go through a gate to the other cottages to access it. Kitchen area was good, clean and well equipped. Bathroom tiny but clean. However, the main room with kitchen at the back was grubby with dusty cobwebs, with a smelly mat on the floor and loose wires hanging from the TV to the plug which was overloaded on an adapter. Very dangerous with a dog in the cottage. We had a five foot bed with a 4 foot six inch quilt cover on it. The mattress on it was appalling - rather like springs covered with fabric- we measured the bed as owner disputed the size and said there was a foam mattress on it. The owner's response to be fair, was immediate and on our return to the property, the rug had been cleaned and we had a good thick mattress and a larger quilt on the bed. However, this did not make up for the dark dismal feeling in the cottage - the leather sofa had no comfort as you slid forward off it all the time. The hoover was useless so that was perhaps an excuse for the cleaner - it had no brushes - just a suction nozzle. We failed to clean our dog's hair off the rug before we left as it was impossible with the hoover prvided. Sad to say this was the worst cottage we have ever stayed in - we were in this business ourselves in Cornwall before retirement and our standard was so high - like most cottages in Cornwall. Needs to have a photo of the outside that isn't many years old .......oh dear. We left two days early. Not recommended.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for taking the time to write a review. However, I would confirm the bed is indeed a standard double and had a double duvet. As per your request I immediately provided a new double mattress and king size duvet to accommodate you, although the original mattress was in very good condition, however not every mattress suits every guest. The properties are all advertised as being in a wooded valley - therefore the presence of trees and woodland should not have come as a surprise. I am indeed sorry that you rented an inappropriate cottage for your requirements - and I feel sure that one of my larger properties within the gardens would have fully met your expectations. I try very hard to ensure guests have the best holiday I can provide and I do take such comments personally. I can only say that no matter how much I provide I cannot please everyone all of the time. Fortunately, most of my guests are delighted with the setting and surroundings and are entirely happy. I would also mention that I have recently had a full inspection and grading and have had no adverse comments or any advisories.

Lovely proprietors, very clean and comfortable accommodation. Our only disappointment was there was no back door or windows to the property so consequently no veiw or direct access to the communal gardens. I think this aspect is misleading in the details and needs to be a little clearer. However there is a gateway to the gardens from the car park.
