We enjoyed our stay in this very compact cottage in a peaceful location. There is a pub serving good food within walking distance. The owner was very helpful. Shower cubicle is exceptionally small.

Had a very comfortable stay here. The double bed was so comfortable. The washer/dryer in the kitchen was a very helpful addition due to muddy walks in the woods with the pooches. The step up from the front door and then again from the lounge area into the kitchen may be a problem for anyone with mobility problems as they are quite steep. The cottage is quite small but but had everything Lovely gardens to explore and the woodlands next door provide beautiful walks. The owner was very welcoming and friendly. I’d recommend a stay here.

The Cottage suited us perfectly, good location for exploring that area of Cornwall and the fact it was dog friendly was the iceing on the cake.

The cottage was lovely and was equipped with everything we needed. This included tea and coffee etc., as well as some lovely cup cakes. The gardens were lovely and were full of animals such as chickens, ducks and goats. Mount Hawke is a quiet little village with a couple of shops and a pub/ restaurant. It is only a short distance to Porthtowan beach. It's closeness to the A30 makes it an ideal base.

First impression The cottage is located on a not too busy road. The entrance to the car parking is tight and needs a certain angle to get in. There is no turning space so the way you get in is the way you get out. Upon arrival there is a musty smell but it is clean and tidy. However the front of the property needs a clean with broken badminton bats laying on the floor. The steps near the door can be quite dangerous as there is no clear marking of the edges and I fell down them a couple of times in the first couple of days. There is free view, the quality is good and the wifi is good also. The Kitchen There are utilities such as dish washer and washing machine but you don't have any powder or tablets to get you though the first day. There is a full size fridge freezer. You have very limited cups and glasses available to you. The bathroom The bathroom is small. The shower cubicle is smaller than a phone box and if you are a large person you would struggle to use it, there is no bath. You have only one toilet roll, so remember to bring some. The bedrooms. The master bedroom is juSt big enough for two but a little dark even with the light on. There is plenty of hanging space and drawers. The bed is comfortable. The smaller bedroom has a bunk bed and big enough for two small children. Overall The big let down was the lack of resources to get you through the first day or two, there is no washing up liquid, washing powder, dish washing tablets or condiments other than salt. If we knew this we would have brought some from day one. We had some cakes to welcome us. Other guests (reading the guest book) had this plus milk, we didn't. The location is good to see Cornwall. Once you are through the single track roads you have good A roads to get you where you want. You are about 20 mins from Truro, 30 mins from Falmouth and an hour from Lands End.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for taking the time to give your review of The Barn. I am sorry that I was not available in person to meet you on arrival. However, my caretaker also lives on site and was here when you arrived. I apologise for the oversight from my cleaning staff in not providing a quantity of washing up liquid and washing tablets etc. as a starter pack, and for the lack of milk which is normally provided on arrival. Regarding the lack of cups and glasses, of course crockery etc. does unfortunately get broken during the year, but I again apologise for any missing items not having been replaced prior to your stay. This has now been rectified. The caretaker would have immediately supplied you with all items required, and anything else you needed had you made her aware of the situation. I do welcome all your comments, but regret not having had the opportunity to rectify these small omissions in order to enhance your stay with us. If there are ever any problems during a guest's stay we welcome your queries in order that we can make your holiday as enjoyable experience as possible.
