This beautifully presented Victorian cottage sits on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, just outside the village of Norton, a small community within walking distance of the market town of Malton, known locally as the ’foodie capital’ of Yorkshire. Auburn Cottage retains many original features, and the quiet, rural position is just perfect to enjoy a relaxing break with easy access to York, the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the beautiful Yorkshire coastline. Step inside and feel the history; to one side is the large living room with brick floor, feature fireplace and stunning wood burner. Deep filled sofas provide the perfect place to snuggle up on an evening to watch your favourite holiday movie on the large flat screen TV. Across the hall you will find the kitchen/dining room. This room is also packed with character from the wooden floors, open beams and exposed brick work. The dining table sits in front of two sets of French windows which open out onto the terrace area and flood the room with natural light. Here you can sit and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal prepared on the Aga by the chef in the family. A large walk-in pantry provides plenty of storage for all the wonderful produce purchased from the many independent delis in Malton. A separate toilet completes the ground floor accommodation. Take the winding cottage stairs to the first floor to find two individually styled bedrooms. A twin with sloping ceilings and wooden floor and the master bedroom with a kingsize bed, duel aspect views across open countryside and exposed beams. The house bathroom with freestanding enamel bath is a delight and offers luxury yet with old world Victorian charm. To the second floor is the final bedroom with a super kingsize zip and link double bed, with a vaulted ceiling, raised platform for the bed and feature round window this room oozes charm and character. To the front of Auburn Cottage is a large brick paved area with additional seating and storage for bikes.Malton offers a weekly market and has a packed events programme throughout the year that mainly focus on food. It really is the place to be is you are a ‘foodie’ enthusiast! There is a plethora of independent shops, art galleries, delis, tea rooms and pubs to enjoy. And an evening at the local Italian restaurant is not to be missed. Ideal for walkers and cyclists alike, there is a good network of footpaths and quiet country lanes, whilst those less mobile will be delighted exploring the many nearby attractions, including the stately home of Castle Howard, Eden Camp War Museum, Flamingo Land and the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough, Bridlington and Filey. A short drive away is the unspoilt North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the seaside towns of Scarborough and Whitby are under an hour’s drive away. Auburn Cottage is the ideal base for your Yorkshire holiday.
