Description

Explore the surrounding medieval towns which are rich in heritage and have local festivals and events.

Ideally situated for a perfect stay, this comfortable and well-equipped holiday property lies in a small hamlet surrounded by beautiful countryside, but is also close to places with lots to do, see and explore. Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, 13km, is a medieval town on the river Aveyron which has a weekly market and lies close to the Gorges de l’Aveyron where you can hire canoes/kayaks and marvel at the precipitous, rocky cliffs of the river valley. Najac, another medieval town, is 23km and has the ruins of a castle perched on a rocky outcrop. Cordes-sur-Ciel, a medieval bastide town is 25km and is built high on a hilltop overlooking the countryside. Throughout the year the towns and surrounding villages have events celebrating their specialities such as the festival of hats in Caussade and the festival of châteaux in Bruniquel. The region is proud of its gastronomy and there is no shortage of restaurants to choose from. Shop and restaurant 3km.

We enjoyed being off the beaten track yet 20mins to supermarket and petrol station in nearby St Antonin Noble Sur. This cottage was spacious yet had a lovely cozy feel and spacious grounds. The area is like Devon, beautiful. The garden is a lovely size although a little uneven under foot. We enjoyed the figs and walnuts from the trees. There is a beautiful large tree in the grounds and two friendly ponies in the field next door. We didn't use the small pool. The steps are gated. The neighbours were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable and speak English. It is a lovely cottage and although I make the comments below about accessibility, I managed fine and wouldn't hesitate to come back. The area is a perfect location for sightseeing and there is plenty of charming villages to visit. What is useful to know if you are in a wheelchair: Access into the property is on the level. It had a small step between the lounge and kitchen diner which I managed to negotiate myself but if you are sight impaired, you may find it difficult to see this. I could also get into the separate toilet and although it was narrow and I have a small narrow chair. It isn't possible to close the toilet door behind. The bathroom has a shower and is also a tight fit. The garden's grounds were difficult to negotiate without assistance as it was quite uneven. As the pool is raised off the ground and had a ladder to climb I wasn't able to use it.
