These well-presented, semi-detached holiday bungalows (refs 30029 and 28627) with private off road parking make an ideal base, standing peacefully in a small rural, quiet cul-de-sac. Within easy reach are Robin Hill Country Park (Bestival music site in September), Dinosaur Museum, Donkey Sanctuary, Osborne House, Quarr Abbey, Carisbrooke Castle, Seaclose Park (Festival music site in June) and yachting at Cowes. Havenstreet Steam Railway travels past the property during the summer months. Also within easy reach are vineyards and quaint villages, some with thatched roofs such as Godshill, Old Shanklin and Brighstone. Slightly further afield, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Pearl Centre, Calbourne Water Mill, which has a 17th-century working watermill, Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK and the Needles with chair lift to the coloured sands of Alum Bay. Popular sandy beaches such as Ventnor, Bembridge, Compton and Steephill Cove are a short drive away. Outdoor pursuits include scenic walking from the door, riding, fishing, cycling, water sports and golf. The island can be explored from the open-top buses that stop regularly at various collection points. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

This was a small but very comfortable bungalow. We had everything we could possibly need. Possibly a bigger freezer as we don't eat out much but we managed. Otherwise it was perfect.

We enjoyed our stay and neighbors were friendly. The only two drawbacks were the directions to the property were misleading and we had to ask where the Ponderosa pub was only to be told that it closed 12mths ago which made it difficult to find the property. Secondly the garden was too small, in fact I wouldn't call it a garden however a lady allowed us to use her field to exercise Toby much to the displeasure of a resident as it overlooked the back of his property.

I can't comment on the inside of the cottage as we had to cancel. However, I'm sure it's just as clean and comfortable as it looks in the photos. Just be aware that it is NOT suitable if you don't have a car - there isn't a bus stop nearby and the road outside the small development of houses has no pavements, so taxis would be the only option. Otherwise, no problem if you have your car with you on the island.
