The Wear Valley area is noted for its outstanding natural beauty and diversity of wildlife together with beautiful breathtaking scenery, peppered with small villages bustling with hospitality for locals and visitors alike. Hamsterley Forest, with its pathways, cycleways, bridleways and numerous sporting and leisure activities, lies 4 miles to the west. Durham city is 15 miles away with its majestic cathedral, cobbled streets, eateries and galleries. Fantastic cottage! The rooms were beautiful and the welcome pack on arrival was unexpected. Thank you. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. The games room was a big hit with young and old, and the selection of games, books and outdoor equipment were fantastic. The children loved playing hide and seek in the cottage, and they never got bored. We miss it already. We will definitely look to come back and stay. Thank you Valerie and Philip 😀

Loved the cottage, had lovely weekend with all my family. Children found lots of games to play mostly outdoors and we enjoyed sitting out at the rear of the cottage to eat our meals. Cooking facilities are good, plenty of equipment. Comfortable rooms, very clean. Superb

Response on behalf of the owner; Thanks to you and your lovely family for the wonderful review, which now gives us a 9.9 out of 10 on the Website and that is just something special for us all. We are constantly making improvements with decorating taking place each Tuesday to Thursday, the only free time we have between bookings, and we were cutting it fine to finish of some of the refurbishment in the kitchen due to delivery delays, so thank you for being patient. Just so pleased you have such a great stay. Getting the good weather to be outdoors is always a bonus as the terrace is quite a sun trap and we have bought even more toys so do come back and visit again. Many Thanks.

Lovely cottage, lovely little village and part of the world, can recommend Victoria Inn for food 2 minute walk down the road. Cottage had everything and more.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Many thanks for your review. We were pleased you had such a good weekend, even if cricket was not the best. Thanks for mentioning The Victoria. Lori and David took over the pub this year and have put a lot of effort in to refurbishing it and trying to get it back on track. David is a very good chef and Lori a lovely host so we hope they will continue to offer a good service for our guests as its great to be able to walk to a restaurant rather than have to drive. I hope if you are back in the area again you will make a return visit.
