The cottage was great, warm and comfortable and the caretaker was to hand if help was needed. Uig is a remote place with wonderful scenery, geology, history and walking. Local amenities were good for eating and drinking. The local stores were helpful and well stocked. Phone and WIFI signals can be a bit thin but you can get free WIFI in hotels and bars locally. £20 a week for WIFI in the cottage seemed a bit steep when most cottages do this service for free. A brilliant week was had by all in November and we'll be back.

Beautiful house in a wonderful location completely spoilt by complete absence of care, attention and cleaning. Both bathrooms shower/baths were dirty, and not with just one weeks of use. I cleaned one that we all used it all week and it was still spotless at the end of the week. The other bath room, I asked the local caretaker to come and clean and whilst they cleaned the glass screen, the thick black dust and grime on top of the bath panel and the long black hair remained as they did on the bath mat. There were crumbs on the draining board and the toaster, the elastic in the fitted sheet had given up, the washing up bowl was split at each of the four corners, there was thick dust on the books, CD, skirting boards, no brush for the dustpan, and the dustpan was broken. I have lots more but enough said! We have stayed in 2-3 cottages per year for years, and whilst of course they is sometimes the occasional problem, we have never encountered a fraction of this and certainly never given a negative report. This was just quite unbelievable. I could have sorted the cleaning with an hours hard graft. Oh yes, we didn't heed the caretakers instruction to leave the place as we found as that wouldn't have been fair on the next occupants!

Argyll cottage is a modern build up on the hillside with large full-height windows facing Uig bay, where you can watch the boats and ferries come in and out. It's a couple of minutes drive from the well_stocked local shop and within walking distance of the excellent Ferry Inn. It's a very good base for a walking holiday in the North of Skye. The kitchen was small but well equipped apart from a lack of small drinking glasses. The beds were comfortable though not large, so if you have a kingsize they may be more intimate than you are used to. You can get internet access quickly and easily and it costs (currently) around £20 per week. My daughter streamed videos to her phone but I didn't try anything more than that. There are a couple of things that may not suit everyone. There is an additional 4th sleeping area, with 2 single beds in a gallery area above the living room. However the large dormer window over these beds has no blind so anyone sleeping in this area is likely to be woken early by the light. Secondly, the lovely large sliding doors, which give such a great view of the harbour, have no blinds or curtains to either limit the sun on a hot day or give any privacy at night. We didn't find the latter a problem as the cottage is not closely overlooked on that side. We enjoyed the views of the moon and the harbour lights in the evening and the resident rabbits, robin and hooded crows in the morning. In all a comfortable, stylish, modern rental in a good location for enjoying Skye.

Light bulb gone in one of the bedroom lamps, should be checked at cleaning and the velux window on the gallery space needs a blind - you can't sleep in that space without a blind on the window. The kitchen knives probably need changing, or sharpening. Otherwise, everything was fine.

Very nice cottage, spoilt by the lack of attention to detail regarding cleaning, ie dirty microwave, dust on horizontal surfaces etc

This is a nice cottage with great views over the loch and ferry port. It was very warm and the showers are hot and powerful. Garden and parking very good, nice to watch the birds and rabbits. However we felt that if there were 8 people there, it was not really large or well equipped enough. As we were a party of 4 adults, it was ok. The cleaning could have been better, eg cobwebs, bathroom bin not emptied. It sleeps 4 upstairs but there is no bathroom upstairs (there are 2 downstairs), so not ideal. You pay £20 for WiFi for the week but if you want multiple users you have to phone to arrange it, and only one person can use it at a time, again not ideal. Also ours stopped working after 5 days. To sum up, we had a very nice week at the cottage and we loved the Skye scenery and walks, but had a few niggles with the facilities.
