Description

Pretty cottage with wood burning stove, garden backing onto River Lussa, ideally placed to visit Iona,Tobermory and Duart Castle.

On the sheltered south-east coast of Mull, between Craignure and Iona and overlooking the River Lussa and Loch Spelve, these two wonderful properties (refs USK and SAAX) enjoy a glorious secluded position within the 4,000-acre Ardura Estate. Bordered by the River Lussa to the north and east, and protected to the west by the masses of Ben Fhada and Glas Ben, the estate is home to highland cattle and sheep, as well as an abundance of other wildlife, including red deer, eagles, buzzards, seals and otters. The estate is recognised as a European Heritage Site for its otter population and ancient Caledonian oak forest. Craignure (6 miles) has a food shop, garage, post office, tourist information centre, pub and restaurant, and is the car ferry port to Oban. Ardura is a great base for visiting Iona, Tobermory and Duart Castle. Excellent hillwalking in the area. Nearby are a swimming pool, gym, health spa, golf courses and sandy beaches. Shops 6 miles.

Open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove, tiled floor and modern fitted kitchen area. Double bedroom with 5ft bed and en-suite bathroom with toilet. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Lovely cosy well-equipped cottage with views of farmland and mountains. About 10 minutes from the Craignure ferry, and just under an hour from Tobermory - and from the Iona ferry in the other direction. Internet is patchy but who cares? Some good walks from the door, and plenty within a few minutes drive.

This cottage did not disappoint. The view up the valley from the rear windows was amazing and from the front of the Highland cattle, Red deer and peacocks special. The house had everything we needed, especially in the kitchen, all appropriate for a cottage in a remote part of Mull. The selection of games and puzzles and Dab radio reception were appreciated. The Estate Manger and Housekeeper were both friendly and effective. We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Mull. I just need to go back for that bath with the view. I must state the roads are terrible and the weather awful - after all it would be a tragedy if Mull was too busy!
