Ardmhor located in the hidden gem of Balqhuidder, is a beautiful two-bedroom cottage surrounded by breath taking scenery with rolling hills and Loch Voil to the front of the house. It is the ideal romantic getaway or for those looking for peace and quiet. Recently refurbished to a very high standard and tastefully decorated throughout giving it a touch of class and style yet with a contemporary feel.
The village of Balqhuidder lies at the head of Loch Voil, southwest of Lochearnhead and west of Strathyre. The Lochs, river, and glens around Balqhuidder are steeped in history and closely association with the MacGregors, especially the famous outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor. The village attracts many visitors from around the world who come to see the final resting place of Rob Roy, in Balqhuidder Kirkyard alongside his wife and two sons. Balqhuidder is also a popular place for walking with many scenic routes, such as the Rob Roy walking trail, Kirkton Pass, and Balqhuidder Glen.
There are also a number of paths that lead out into the surrounding mountains including Stob Binnein 3,822 ft (1165 m) and Ben More 3,851 ft (1174 m). In the village there are the remains of a number of pre-historic sites including a stone circle, the Pudreag Stone, and a Neolithic burial chamber cairn to the east. Take a walk to the end of the village where you will find a restaurant and nice coffee shop, get in the car and head south where in less than 10 minutes you will find the popular historic town of Callander where you will find everything you need in this bustling tourist, or north in the village of Lochearnhead. Pub and restaurant 3¾ miles.
